Wow, if there ever was an old thread worth resurrecting, this is the one!  I hadn't seen it before, so thanks for giving me the opportunity!  I was also a major fan of Judy, and I was so sad for her loss, along with that of those other remarkable people on Challenger.  We lost some of the best people in the world that day.

Thank you so much!!! I am super glad that you have enjoyed my thread... I thought it had been long since forgotten. So I am happy to see Judy is still getting a little recognition around here

She was one of the main reasons I was up early on that cold January morning in Illinois to watch 51L launch on TV.  (CNN was the only coverage.)   She was amazing!

Oh yes Judy Resnik. After reading Riding Rockets and even more after reading this thread, I think I'd've liked her if I'd known her. Somehow, any time I see a video or something about STS-51-L, I have this urge to shout HOLD HOLD HOLD as if I were a launch control officer. Unbelievably sad what happened that day.

Actually, when I received my PhD, during the graduation ceremony we were given that very example for how an engineer should behave - and how not. To conclude with Feynman:

"Reality should always take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled!"

R.I.P. Judy and the rest of STS-51-L!

I'm a bit late to the party on this thread but...I wanted to add this screen capture that I just adore. That smile just says it all...

I haven't visited this thread in some time...but this past Sunday I made a small contribution in Judy's honor to the Challenger Center.  I would encourage anyone with a few dollars to spare to do the same.

Still thinking warmly of her all these years later.
