[Space News] Arabsat Falcon Heavy mission slated for December-January timeframe
Quote
The Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based satellite operator told SpaceNews by email that the launch window for Arabsat 6A is between December and January.

translation artifact I guess... not a lot of time "between December and January" ... (exactly zero seconds most years, although once in a while we get a leap second)

That's what you call an instantaneous launch window.

We were speculating about the announced Tesla Roadster “SpaceX Package“ contents ... so it seems fair game and on topic (for the party thread).

Cross-post from the Exomars 2020 thread!:
Rover test: What's it like to ride a rocket to Mars?

If the rocket is called Proton, the answer to the question is: quite scary.

I will likely be asleep for the forthcoming occasion and it will be the first time I've missed a Falcon launch. To bar against the possibility that my absence could lead to bad juju, mojo, spiritual unrest, or sundry taboo RUD unpleasantness, I've asked another great American to stand in my stead for the event.

I just had this weird vision of the McKenzie brothers doing a parody of a Star Trek episode.

Hey eh..... There is like a Tribble in this beer bottle.

Well the little master alarm clock in my brain woke me up a few minutes before launch and told me to watch. Glad it did. Once again it was all so beautiful. Time to get up for work in thirty minutes anyway.  8)

Can’t help but say “ menonmenal... dee deeee.. dee dee dee”
Every time someone says “nominal” on the broadcast.
Too much Sesame Street with the kids as they grew up.
Oh... congrats to SpaceX on the successful launch and retirement of the last block 4 1st stage (edit: remaining to be used for orbital flight)
Block 5 forever... until one BFR rules them all.

Congrats SpaceX on another beautiful success.

Reused booster and spacecraft, sweet.

I hope we hear something about the US long duration test.

Now, onto the Block 5's!

My plans for world domination foundered because the team floundered around trying to decide if the orbiting mind control lasers should be red, green, or blue, and that caused so much lack of progress, and bitter arguing, that all the backers withdrew their funds.

That wouldn't be the first project to wallow over bikeshedding ;) I assume you have a plan B ?

Don't underestimate the importance of looking out a window.

I'm done with this. https://twitter.com/Foone/status/1014267515696922624
You want to be inspired by things. You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great. That's what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It's about believing in the future and believing the future will be better than the past. And I can't think of anything more exciting than being out there among the stars.
