Erection and Commisioning:Supply of grout materials and erection ,testing and commissioning of 1700m length of MRS 85 Rail track system (including supply and erection of track change over system) at SLC site as per RFP document.
The rail system will be designed to carry the Mobile Launch Structure (MLS) loaded with the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) class of rockets, with a maximum payload capacity of 570 tonnes. The project involves installing special grade rails capable of withstanding individual bogie wheel loads of up to 100 tonnes.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and the Prime Minister's Office, today provided information on the third launchpad installation work at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. He stated that after receiving financial approval on March 21, 2025, the geotechnical and topographic survey of the site was completed in the third quarter of 2025. All systems have been installed, and the tender process is underway. Two related tenders have been issued. Civil works for the construction of access roads and the establishment of temporary power supply are in progress. Major pending tasks include the installation of the propellant storage and service system, the construction of the mobile launch platform, the electrical safety tower, the laying of rail tracks to the Vehicle Integration Building, and the construction of the jet deflection tube. The project is scheduled for March 2029.The tender process for the implementation of the third launch pad is expected to involve private and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). All tenders will be issued and executed in accordance with the Department's prevailing procurement mechanisms, with a priority given to the Make-in-India policy.
