I was considering the idea of patching together a series of thermal blankets, but it occures to me that often, they are of different materials and construction completely.

Example; a quilted thermal blanket versus a mylar blanket.  It seems these materials would have to be sorted as well, as would wires. (Braided versus plastic coated, multistrand versus solid core, etc.)

Not only that, but various materials may be degraded to whatever extent from long exposure to the harsh conditions there.
