That last newsletter has a few interesting notes in it:

- Christer doubts the current launch date of 18/8 will hold, and that a delay by a few days is nearly inevitable.
- Will join crewmate Jose Hernandez in twittering about the preparations before launch, starting around the time of the crew's TCDT. He will however not twitter during the flight.

A few interesting notes in it:

- Christer thinks August 21 is the most likely launch date
- They might add a 4th EVA on flightday FD9 and move the current EVA3 on FD10. This EVA will do the tasks not completed by STS-127. The new EVA will likely be preformed by Tim Kopra and Patrick G. Forrester, mainly because Tim has practiced on alot of the tasks for STS-127

Hi,

I just found this forum, it's great! So, now it looks like the new launch day might be the 23:rd. Hopefully they can set it a bit firmer soon, I like to book my travel to US! :-)

Thank you all for a great forum full of information!

Um... If this has been said in a briefing recently, than I apologize, but the current NET launch date for this mission is the 25th or 26th of August.

Furthermore, the Agency (SOMD) FRR is NOT until August 18 -- and the SOMD FRR is always about nine or eight days BEFORE liftoff.

Also, it takes 22-days (minimum) to process a Shuttle vehicle for launch out at the pad. Discovery's rollout date is August 5th -- which means the 23rd is not an option.

The date I got (23:rd), was from Christer Fuglesangs newsletter. But as he wrote, they keep changing the date, but the 23:rd was the last he had heard at the time he wrote the newsletter. But NASA still have the 25:th as the earliest launch time at their web site.

Well, it's to early to make travel arrangements. I just have to wait and see.

Cheers,

I know.  And I knew where you were coming from.  It's just that, while I LOVE the fact that Christer writes these letters, the information in them can sometimes be taken as fact when it IS just conjecture, speculation, and a "last I heard" kind of thing.  The only point I was trying to make is that, while he heard the 23rd as the earliest possible date, the timelines just simply don't support that -- even with rollout to Pad-A now on the 3rd.

Hi spacejunkies ;)
Since i'm a WIS (Watch i d i o t Savant) AND a spacenerd i stumbled across the following info and thougt it might be of interest for you guys.
Christer is involed in the making of a new watch in Sweden called Halda. Halda is an old Swedish brand that is now being brouht to life again. I think he's going to use it on STS-128. Listen to Christer speaking about it at:
http://www.haldasweden.se/
