No, I watch the Wakata's TV interview last december (just Hydrolab training).
He wanted to understand the Russian EVA risks as a commander.

Presser beginning with Mike. Giving an overview of current orbit status / computer upgrades / etc. That transition is complete, software upgrades in almost every aspect of vehicle. Much of that occurred before Progress docking, remainder (external type computers) just in last few days. Was as flawless as could be expected.

Attention now to research. Requirement is 35 hours per week. Due to long period of 3-crew timeframe we've been in deficit, but plan was to bring back up to 35 average again. So a number of weeks with 50 hours coming up (last week we did 55 - but actually 66 because some things took longer than expected.) So average coming up to 29-30 hours per week right now.

ARED working fine. MBSU that was acting up last year is still not talking to us but it's working. If it doesn't fail, late summer / early fall changeout on a planned EVA. Procedures exist for contingency if needed.

Soyuz: During pressure testing for S704 (30S flight) descent module / propulsion module, it was overpressurized and caused a leak in the hydrogen peroxide system area. Russians decided not to fly this vehicle, commission formed to find cause & prevent overpressure. S705 is pulled up to fly mid-May. Probably could have flown earlier but we want to preserve a 2 week gap in between crew change, and dark landing period ends late April.

28S Landing now April 30th, 30S launch May 15.

Progress launch 47 is now April 20. Russians intend to pull up other vehicles in flow to catch up, probably won't see next Soyuz until mid-July so will plan return for a 2 week gap.

Probably a 2 week impact (maybe less) in the fall period. Impact relative to ISS is almost nil. 28S crew was to be on orbit 123 days (came up late because of Progress) so adding 45 days still keeps them below 180.

Next crew in flow will now be up around 147 days, cutoff is 200, if they come home mid-July they are at 190 days so no concern.

Vehicle traffic is only real impact, but we're good with doing that.

SpaceX NET March 20. No big problems being worked, a lot of little things need to be wrapped up. Mike think that's tough to meet though, but should be within a few weeks of that date. But we'll hold it for now.

Plenty of logistics through end of this year, we can get upmass on Progress through 2013 even if no commercial vehicles fly. So we aren't biting our nails on those. Busy working with logistics carriers to finalize dates, but crew and vehicle are doing fine.

AWST: How confident are you in Russian prep / QC / etc given what happened? Do you know enough to characterize this? Will NASA be doing its own assessment?

Mike: Russians have had a number of challenges in the last year relative to launches. They take it seriously and are trying to look for clues across the board. None points towards Progress team at Energia in Moscow. This is unfortunate event, but this is a complicated business. Doesn't indicate any overarching problem. I do not know cause, regulator failure, human error, but I know they are giving this a lot of attention.

Mike: We aren't going to change anything, this is an internal issue. Now if they overstressed it and still want to fly, they'll need to explain it to us. But this is a ground error, but you probably saw the ground error with the bridge crash. This is a business where sometimes there are errors.

Space News: Timeframe for regression testing on Dragon?

Mike: Should be completed late Feb.

SN: Are the crews there now and future crews trained on Dragon arrival?

Mike: We train the crews we expect and then it's our habit to train the followon, but in this case we still have the same crew up that was planning on berthing it anyways. Dan / Don / Andre would be prime, and they have been prime.

SN: What about MLM module?

Mike: Summer of 2013 is the latest.

FlaTo: What is plan if commercial flights don't arrive?

Mike: Plan would not be to reduce crew size, because with HTV / ATV / Progress has enough upmass. We would not fly new research up though. We won't unman, but we will fly about 1000lb with first Progress of 2013 which covers us into first quarter of 2013 so gives us more margin.

If I need to talk about more upmass from Russians, I would buy what exists in excess of their needs, so if we don't fly any CRS by end of summer then we start talking.

Mike: We can get a little capacity from the extra, but we would work together to get critical hardware and right research up. But we would buy margin on existing Progress vehicles, not buying whole Progresses.
