I guess the chances of the tower being selected by LEGO are even lower than for the shuttle, as it is not a "stand-alone set" as their requirements state (edit: sorry to be so negative, but I guess its better to manage your expectations on this one).

I'm afraid I agree. I can't really imagine people buying the tower who haven't already bought the Saturn V and I suspect a lot of Saturn V buyers won't really be interested in the tower and thus too small a potential customer base. Still at least it should get the 10,000 votes and then at least LEGO gave to consider it.
have to consider it.

"6 Projects Qualify for the Second 2017 LEGO Ideas Review"

https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/0d0f90c2-71d4-421e-8765-e7ea5f141f7f

The Launch Umbilical Tower and the Shuttle both passed 10,000 supporters and are among the projects that qualify for a review.

But that' not all... - Also the NASA NF-15B research aircraft qualified. That's 3 out 6 LEGO projects being based on NASA hardware. Impressive! - There must be a lot of space fans out there...

Yep, one of them is my grandson Max, who is 12 years old and had a lot of fun with this kit,

as one can see,

and he did not need any help, whereupon his Grandpa is very proud.

LEGO® Ideas 21312 Women of NASA has just been approved:

- Looks like a very nice set honouring some excellent individuals. I will definitely get a couple of copies for my daughters. Want to inspire them to get interested in science and technology, and of course space!

I find it so cool to have mini-figures of someone like Margaret Hamilton who excelled in science, instead of just girly "Friends" who hang around in photo studios and yachts sipping drinks.

I’m currently working on mine. Started with the LM (bag 12), because if this site has tought me anything it’s payloads before rockets.  ;)

One thing that’s struck me while building this set is that while it only has one instruction book, it could be built by three or four people following the PDF instructions.

While we’re drifting off toward other LEGO sets, I never thought I’d see a set with Dark Knight SRBs.  :P

Has anybody made a modified INT version with booster rockets? I haven't seen anything like that yet.

Me either. :)  However I am happy to say I do lots of quality building with LEGO elements. :)

I've heard time and time again during rocket modification and upgrade threads that 'Rockets aren't LEGOs'! Well; some are, even the inspirational ones ;)

OK Lego Saturn V done, it took me about 4 hours. First build of 2018, now just waiting on the LUT. Wonder why the images rotated left 90 degrees?
