ISS Daily Summary Report – 7/08/2021

SpaceX-22 Undock and Return: Cargo Dragon SpaceX-22 (SpX-22) undocked from the ISS today at 9:45 AM CT to return cargo and payloads to the ground concluding the 33-day mission aboard the ISS. SpX-22 will complete departure phasing through Friday evening, jettison the Trunk carrying the empty ISS Power Augmentation (IPA) for destructive re-entry, deorbit, and then splash down off the coast of Tallahassee, Florida at approximately 10:29 PM CT on Friday night.

Systems

Cargo Dragon Departure Preparations: The crew completed several activities prior to SpX-22 undock. The crew loaded powered cargo and late-load science, inspected the vestibule Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI), performed hatch closures between SpX-22 and Node 2 Zenith, and depressurized the Node 2 Zenith vestibule. The crew then used Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Program (RPOP) software to monitor SpX-22 departure from the ISS.

Today’s Ground Activities:
All activities are complete unless otherwise noted.

Dragon / CRS-22 reentering tonight, courtesy of a webcam in Clearwater Beach, FL: livebeaches.com/webcams/beach-…

Kicking myself for not making the trip to photograph this. Weather was forecasted as 100% cloudy and I’m traveling tomorrow so it was a bit of a stretch. Wish I went.

@SpaceX’s Cargo Dragon has successfully splashed down!

Time-sensitive science will now be transported to Kennedy Space Center. The short trip allows researchers to collect data with minimal sample exposure to gravity.

Space cargo ship Dragon splashed down off the coast of Florida

MOSCOW, July 10 - RIA Novosti. The American cargo spacecraft Dragon splashed down off the coast of Florida , SpaceX reported on its Twitter page .

"The Dragon floatation has been confirmed to complete SpaceX's 22nd cargo delivery mission to the International Space Station ," the statement said.

Earlier it was reported that the American cargo spacecraft Dragon had left the ISS. The SpaceX-owned spacecraft has been on the ISS since June 5. He was supposed to return to Earth a few days ago, but undocking was delayed due to bad weather in Florida, where tropical storm Elsa hit.

Dragon is the only cargo ship capable of returning cargo from the ISS to Earth. This time he must bring from the station about 2.3 tons of cargo, including the results of scientific experiments.

DRAGON RETURNS TO EARTH FOR CRS-22 MISSION

SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft completed its 22nd Commercial Resupply Services (CRS-22) mission to and from the International Space Station for NASA, successfully returning to Earth and splashing down off the coast of Florida on Friday, July 9 at 11:30 p.m. EDT.

Dragon undocked from the International Space Station on Thursday, July 8 at 10:45 a.m. EDT and then performed three burns of its Draco thrusters to move away from the orbiting laboratory. After approximately 37 hours of phasing, the spacecraft re-entered Earth’s atmosphere and deployed its two drogue and four main parachutes for a soft water landing in the Gulf of Mexico.

GO Navigator began the journey from the splashdown LZ after handing off time sensitive cargo from Dragon via helicopter in the wee hours of the morning. Current listed destination is Tampa but we'll see if they make a stop or breeze by towards Canaveral.

GO Navigator and the CRS-22 Dragon are about two hours away from arriving at Port Canaveral.

Somewhat rate daylight Dragon arrival. The capsule will be taken into the Navy area so best viewing options are Jetty Park or the boat ramps.
