Probably to reduce production overhead for the webcasts. There is a lot more of them now.

Also to keep the webcast production staff from going bonkers with the increase in launch frequency.

They pretty much already do. It's a terribad experience.

Best to have MC audio open in one tab, the webcast in another muted.

The terribad experience is actually moderated by the presence of the SpaceX hosts. IMO.

Personally, the only host I bother listening to is John Insprucker (all others go on mute), but let's be honest. Even John would have trouble finding something new and interesting to say that wasn't said sometime during the previous 48 Starlink launches.

The reason I keep tuning is is because SpaceX will (at least attempt to) keep visuals on the actual vehicles during most of the coverage, and generally only reverts to simulation during coast phases. Even if I find most of the hosts boring to listen to, I find each launch is still a lot of fun to watch. Starting at T-5min is perfect for me.

All that said, if all you twitter users wanted to campaign Elon to bring back the technical webcasts, I'd support the hell out of that.

All the Pre-shows are better left to the YouTube community now. Nasaspaceflight..... No need for Starlinks missions to have SpaceX hosts anymore.

1st launch for the 3rd #Starlink shell, 6th flight of #Falcon9 B1063, 29th launch of the year so far for #SpaceX.

They’re 2 flights away from tying their launch record set last year (31), and we’re still in the seventh month of the current year.

Webcast criticism posts aside, as I fear of too many of them cluttering this thread, I’m looking forward to this launch since it’s the beginning of a new Starlink shell series (Group 3).

On top of this being beneficial for those living along the polar orbit trajectory. SpaceX wants Starlink to be available anywhere.

The biggest reason for polar coverage is to support airliners, and the next biggest is ships. Great circle routes tend to be near the poles. The great circle routes that containerships use from Los Angeles to Tokyo or China pass north of the Aleutians. Providing service for the entire flight or voyage is a fairly big reason that the customer wants the service.
