Totally different question - why hasn't Blue reset their launch number?
Most all of the NS launches were test stuff, why not reset the number at zero for operational/crewed flights?

Huh? SpaceX doesn't do that. They don't call it "flight 74" or whatever. I don't think anyone else names their flight after what launch number it is but Blue.

I don't think they should do any specific thing, I was just curious about why they were doing what they do.

I don't think they should do any specific thing, I was just curious about why they were doing what they do.

Sometimes it's best just not to overthink something that's pretty straight forward. It's a simple, easy to grok numbering.

If they had changed it, I'm sure we'd be seeing conspiracy theories left and right as to what Blue was trying to hide, etc..

For the RSS First Step/NS4 vehicle, we can only guess it could fly in late September or early October based on a rough two month turnaround. It is also possible that RSS H.G. Wells/NS3 flies again as happened last year.

putting NS on that list is like calling a 787 and a bycicle both "vehicles". While true, it misses the meaning. Orbital launch is SOO far different from a big sounding rocket. To quote Ted Striker "It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether".

This isn't to say that NS is "bad". Its not, its really awesome what its doing. However, it shouldn't be lumped together with orbital vehicles.
