Quote
DOCKED! Soyuz MS-22 - carrying a crew of three - arrives at the ISS, around three hours after launch.

That sideways motion is fine. They will soon retract the probe and drive the hooks.

A copy of the birch-bark letter found in Novgorod went into space.

A copy of a 14th-century birch-bark letter found in Novgorod went into space.

09/21/2022 19:57 (updated: 09/21/2022 20:01)

St. Petersburg, September 21 - RIA Novosti. A copy of a 14th-century birch bark document found in Veliky Novgorod went into space along with the Soyuz-2.1a rocket, which launched the Soyuz MS-22 manned spacecraft into orbit on Wednesday, the press service of the government of the Novgorod region reported.

The Soyuz-2.1a rocket on Wednesday launched the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft flying to the ISS with two Russians and an American on board. The rocket was launched from Baikonur at 16.54 Moscow time. The journey to the ISS will take Sergei Prokopiev, Dmitry Petelin and Francisco Rubio just over three hours. The total duration of the mission should be 188 days. The return of the crew is scheduled for March 28, 2023.

“Together with the launch vehicle, a copy of birch bark charter No. 10, found at the Nerevsky excavation site in Veliky Novgorod, went into space. An ambassador without a path is coming to him, he himself is dumb, carrying an unwritten letter," the message reads.

According to the Novgorod authorities, scientists consider this text a riddle about Noah's ark.

Also, the third stage of the launch vehicle has additional symbols dedicated to the 1160th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood and the 1140th anniversary of the annexation of Kiev to Novgorod.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday in Novgorod congratulated the Russians on the 1160th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood. The head of state noted that Veliky Novgorod, Rurik's settlement, Staraya Ladoga , Izborsk - "all this is the cradle of Russia, the source of our civilization and our state, our culture, enlightenment."
