Copenhagen Suborbitals hopes to launch the world’s first amateur-built rocket for human space travel and have announced an upcoming launch window for their Tycho Brahe capsule. The window extends from June 1-14, 2011 and they are currently shooting for Thursday, June 2 for an unmanned suborbital test flight, according the their website. The group is headed by Kristian von Bengtson and Peter Madsen, and their HEAT 1-X rocket is being prepared for launch from a steel catamaran in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Denmark.

Wow, looking at that thing, I am not sure if my response is "Those guys are insane" or "I want a ride in it". Best of luck to them, it looks to be an interesting project to say the least.

I'm not sure if riding in that thing would be fun or terrifying. It certainly doesn't look safe.

Couldn't find any thread for Copenhagen Suborbitals, so desided to make a new one here.

They will have a big test of there new big Liquid propellant rocket engine TM65 (Tordenskjold) in 26½ hours (sunday 19:00 local Danish time).

They have started building a new spaceship called Tycho Deepspace with a LES rocket. The LES is going to be testfired with Tycho Deepspace this summer:

And Copenhagen Suborbitals Support has grown to 606 paying members. Each member is paying 100 dkk ($17) each month (50 dkk for students). CSS is paying for materials, equipment and the work shop rent for CS, they are not paying for any salary as all work in CS and CSS in unpaid work. CSS has grown almost 100 members the last month, because CSS made a roadtrip arround Denmark to tell about CS.

A great day for Suborbitals!

TM65 reach about 50% of rated output, so there is still room for improvement in comming tests. And the engine should be able to handle 125%.

They are now planning a new big booster with 4 TM65 rocket engines, 1,6 meter in diameter:
