In any case, it seems NASA is taking inspiration from Chinese communication strategies.
Less than three months before the Crew-12 launch, the crew had not yet been announced. :(

Yes, the lateness of the Crew-12 announcement is very unusual. I can only assume it's due to the recent uncertainty over whether Crew-12 would be a crew of four or three. But that aside, it remains very unusual.

I think the announcement date would have been reasonable, but then they advanced the schedule by more than a month? That schedule change may have been associated with Artemis II schedule changes, or the Cargo Starliner decision, or both.

Sophie Adenot said in a social media post today that she was not yet allowed to post pictures of the crew.

My unofficial opinion is that it will be a 4 person crew, and that no decision on crew size will be made until a new administrator is in place.

Agreed, especially when we know (he said it himself after his original nomination was pulled) that Isaacman is against the crew decrease.

The serious damage to the Soyuz/Progress launch site (the only one available) raises the possibility that crew rotations and cargo deliveries in 2026 could be seriously impacted for an indefinite period. I don't pretend to know what all the contingency crew rotation scenarios are, but one possibility would be to offload impacted Soyuz crews into additional Dragon flights. I believe there are a limited number of ports that Dragons can dock at though, which would also affect the geometry of what is possible.

This of course could also impact Axiom and Vast in 2026, and who knows what else.

Posting this here to note the potential impact to 2026 crewing.

You lost me. Huh?

Aside from Fedeyev, what does that have to do with Crew-12?

Yes, CDR Meir, PLT Hathaway.

Would Meir on Crew-12 remove the possibility of her flying on Artemis III?

Absolutely, even if Artemis III had a remote chance of launching before 2028.

And Nicolas and DCFowler, you are arguing past each other. Nicolas is talking about the cosmonaut replacement on Crew-12 (yes, Fedyayev) while DCF is on the matter of CDR/PLT (Meir CDR, Hathaway PLT).

Well, now we know what's been distracting the Crew-12 folks:

"Oops."

Let us maintain our focus on the current crew assignment in this thread. The rationale for Crew-12 removal is being discussed here. There is no necessity for duplication.

It's Tony De La Rosa... I don't create this stuff; I just report it.  I also cover launches and trim post (Tony TrimmerHand).

It is known who will take command of ISS-74B after Crew-11 departs in March?

The Main Medical Commission has assessed the readiness of the Russian cosmonaut for the expedition to the ISS
- Crews
December 25, 2025

Today, December 25, 2025, the Main Medical Commission (GMK) met at the Cosmonaut Training Center to assess the medical fitness of Russian crew member of USCV SpaceX Crew-12, Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyayev, for space flight to the International Space Station.

The commission included representatives from the Cosmonaut Training Center, the Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Federal Medical Biological Agency of Russia, the Russian Ministry of Defense, and the Russian Ministry of Health.

According to the GMK's conclusion, Russian member of the USCV SpaceX Crew-12 crew, Roscosmos cosmonaut A.V. Fedyayev, is fit for space flight under the cross-flight agreement. The launch of the Crew Dragon spacecraft is scheduled for no earlier than mid-February 2026.

The GMK also decided that Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Teteriatnikov is fit for training as part of the crew.

So it's seems that Sergei Teteriatnikov (the first of the 2019 selection) it's named as backup for this flight, and probably would be assigned to the USCV-13 crew
