This is rather interesting--the reason he is not putting out his scripts is that he is concerned that they will be absorbed by AI and used to produce derivative products. Makes sense.

I binge-watched season 1 over the weekend, and then caught up on season 2's 6 episodes in the past couple of days. It is an outstanding show.

Isn't it? I binge-watch it on Friday nights and finished week two last night. It's exciting and well-written, a thriller.

Yup. And episode 6 ended in an interesting way (avoiding spoilers here). Andor had earlier told Luthen "You will help me" and we ultimately saw how that happened.

Most Satisfying ending.

Yes. One of the themes of the show has been the struggles of the cause (the rebellion) and still maintaining relationships. Luthen has often taken a hard line, that the cause is everything and you should be willing to sacrifice the people around you for the cause.

Relationships (along with "Family") have been a long-running issue or topic with Star Wars. Jedi are prohibited from having relationships, and in this series, it seems the opposite is needed: the pairing of talent and its impact when that relationship is lost. There are so many levels of issues that this series is dealing with; it floors me how well the writers have assembled this in a cohesive fashion, and the parallels between each side make this show astounding. I've never seen such great writing for a Star Wars "anything."

I've always found Star Wars to be rather simplistic. I know people argue that it deals with deep issues, but I have always found it to be superficial. I prefer Star Trek, which I know has sometimes been silly and stupid, but on many occasions has aimed to address big issues.

Andor, however, really is a show for adults. It's not only the themes, but the way it tells the stories. It doesn't feed the audience everything, you have to figure things out on your own. That final scene in episode 6 that just dropped last night, for instance, requires a lot of thought. You have to piece certain things together and then you realize how that happened and who was involved. I don't want to spoil it here, but maybe will discuss it after the next episodes drop.

Saw was in Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch Animated TV shows. He transferred to Live Action and continued his story tere before Rogue One

Was he in Rogue One first, then those other shows?

Initially on the Clone Wars animation "A War on Two Fronts", October 6, 2012
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story premiered on December 10, 2016
Then Rebels, Ghosts of Geonosis," which is part of Season 3, Episodes 11 and 12, January 7, 2017
Then BB Season 1: "Aftermath," which premiered on May 4, 2021, and "Battle Scars," which premiered on June 11, 2021
BB Season 2: "Paths Unknown," which premiered on February 21, 2024

"You think I'm crazy?"

Note: spoilers here, but there is a good explanation for why Saw is the way he is. And a good discussion of the politics of rebellion.

Allen's channel is my best "level-headed" reviewer.

I've seen his channel a bit. It's a weird variation of geekiness. I do think this review had some great insights, including that the kid was probably the most likely to go full radical. If you look at Cassian, he's actually thoughtful, methodical. Watch how many times he is in a new situation and he looks around, watches people, doesn't say anything. He's observing and planning. And that's what he does on Gorman, he observes and then makes an assessment. The kid, however, got involved in the cause as revenge, and took a very violent path (building his own bomb). So he is more likely to go to extremes.

Some other great insights:

Yes, as Erik Voss detailed in his review of the kid.

I was surprised they didn't have him say, "I love the smell of Ridomium in the morning."

Nah, they should give a line like that to Bill Burr instead.

Apparently episode eight is already one of the highest rated episodes of TV ever on IMDb.

Absolutely gripping set of episodes. Incredible piece of TV and probably some of the best SW has ever been.

I just found some time to watch all three this early morning. WOW.  Fully agree, the suspense and the Music were killing me and kept me on edge.  Great stuff.

Andor is the only SW property that consistently makes the empire and its operatives symbols of terror that they should be. I mean stormtroopers and TIE fighters are portrayed as genuinely terrifying, let alone the droids this week. Even the bit with a certain character in a room with them was unsettling.

There are some good commentaries on the recent episodes on YouTube. I'll post them here eventually, but I don't want to spoil anything for people. (Yeah, if you click on this Andor thread, you are risking spoilers, but I still hope that people just watch without being spoiled.)

One interesting commentary was that the show is exploring the different levels of "evil" as well as the different forms of rebellion.

I have my commentary videos stored in a playlist, but I am waiting for my patient to go to sleep so I can view them.
