What we have had so far is "adventurers" going to space, not "tourists". Being a tourist doesn't require any training. For instance, a tourist today does not need any training for how to exit a helicopter or airplane while under water, because the chances of them needing to do that are extremely rare.

So in order to have space tourism we are going to be needing risk levels far below what is present today. That said, there can still be a significant market for space "adventurers" that can do training for safety related reasons.
If we don't continuously lower the cost to access space, how are we ever going to afford to expand humanity out into space?

I plan to be in zero-gravity for a couple of hours each day when I'm at the Voyager Station space hotel. I plan to live up there for 6 months each year

Right now living in space for 6 months each year would probably cost hundreds of millions of dollars per year. So that plan requires either an extremely lucrative career, a big inheritance, or another source of lots of money. It might be somewhat more affordable a few decades from now, but you'll probably still need to be a millionaire.

So making movies and medical /material research are all you can do in space till launch costs fall.

I started a forum under Advanced Concepts that would be better put in this section.
Realistic, near-term, rotating Space Station.

My proposal in my signature.
