"Today, on March 12, specialists from RSC Energia (a part of State Corporation Roscosmos) working at the Baikonur launch site have successfully completed operations to mate a manned transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-08 to the adapter section.

The spacecraft preparations for the launch under the International Space Station (ISS) program are being performed at the spacecraft processing facility. Earlier, the spacecraft had been filled with propellant components and compressed gases and installed into a jig for further pre-launch processing.

Planned for this week under the schedule of processing activities are a designer’s inspection of the spacecraft, roll-on of the payload fairing and transportation of the orbital module containing Soyuz MS-08 from the spacecraft processing facility to the launch vehicle integration and checkout facility and basicintegration with Soyuz-FG launch vehicle.

The launch of the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle with the Soyuz MS-08 manned transport spacecraft is scheduled for March 21, 2018 from Launch Pad No. 1 (Gagarin’s launch pad). The prime crew of the Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft consists of commander, ROSCOSMOS cosmonaut, Oleg ARTEMIEV, flight engineers, NASA astronauts Andrew FEUSTEL and Richard ARNOLD. The backup crew consists of the spacecraft commander, ROSCOSMOS cosmonaut Alexei OVCHININ and flight engineer, NASA astronaut Nick HAGUE."

I always wondered how precisely, the external part of VSK-4 periscope (who is jettisoned before reentry) was attached to the descent compartment after the fairing was put on...
By a hatch then installed folded, but never seen any image of this installation.

I always wondered how precisely, the external part of Vzor periscope

It is called VSK-4, not Vzor (which was the one on Vostok).

MEDIA ADVISORY M18-044

NASA Television Coverage Set for Space Station Crew Launch, Docking

Two American astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut are ready for their journey to the International Space Station that begins on Wednesday, March 21. Live coverage will air on NASA Television and the agency’s website.

At the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, NASA astronauts Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold, and cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, are set to launch in the Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft at 1:44 p.m. EDT (11:44 p.m. Kazakhstan time) March 21.

After a two-day flight, the new crew members will dock to the station’s Poisk docking module at 3:41 p.m. Friday, March 25. About two hours later, hatches between the Soyuz and the station will open, and the new residents will be greeted as part of the Expedition 55 crew by station commander Anton Shkaplerov of Roscosmos, Scott Tingle of NASA and Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Coverage of Expedition 55 launch and docking activities is as follows (all times EDT):

Wednesday, March 21

·       12:45 p.m. – Soyuz MS-08 launch coverage (launch at 1:44 p.m.)

Friday, March 23

·       3 p.m. – Docking coverage (docking scheduled for 3:41 p.m.)

·       5 p.m. – Hatch opening and welcome coverage

A full complement of video of the crew’s pre-launch activities in Baikonur will air on NASA TV in the days preceding launch.

The crew members of Expedition 55-56 will continue work on hundreds of experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science aboard the International Space Station, humanity’s only permanently occupied microgravity laboratory. This crew continues the long-term increase in U.S. crew size from three to four, allowing NASA to maximize time dedicated to research on the space station.

During his flight, former educator Ricky Arnold will wrap up NASA’s Year of Education on Station, an initiative to engage students and educators in human spaceflight and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.

March 16, 2017
Preparations continue for the launch of transportation spacecraft Soyuz MS-08 under the program of the International Space Station.
Today, March 16, the crews of Soyuz MS-08 performed a check inspection of the spacecraft in its launch configuration, in the course of which the primary and backup crews familiarized themselves with the controls and checked out in the test mode the operational integrity of various systems of the spacecraft.
The members of the prime crew also inspected the Progress MS-09 transport cargo vehicle, which is scheduled for launch on July 10, 2018..."
