such a truly remarkable sight, although it's a bit sad to see at the same time, because we now really know that the end of SSP is in sight, but also historic to see this new beautiful rocket and the possibilities we now have!

Truly a remarkable site. Regardless of what happens with Ares I, I am glad this test is being carried out. Look back on the X-33, I always wished we atleast got on test launch out of it.

Is it just me, or now that Ares I-X is out in the open, it doesn't look as crazily tall as it did in the VAB?

PAO announced that movement of Ares I-X not as obvious as thought, were expecting about 1 foot of sway at the tip (and about 6 inches at the base noted from earlier) which as of yet has not been visible.

Not sure if sway is the correct term or not, if someone wants to clarify that.

Yep, that's accurate. Not bad either for such a slim and top heavy vehicle (by outline, I know the booster is the heavy end).

No LCROSS plume, no AX1 sway, geeze people, come on! ;-)
It's all in the data.

What happens if winds get above limit after Ares I-X have passed 50% of its journey - do they turn around and return to VAB or countinue to the Launchpad?

Sunrise is at 7:25 am EDT (less than 4 hours away in terms of where I live on the West Coast)
