KSC Spaceport News

>>> More than 1,600 personnel from NASA field centers and industry partners successfully completed a review of the Constellation Program’s ground system preliminary designs at Kennedy Space Center on June 2.
...
“Progressing to this phase on a project of this magnitude is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Dale Thomas, [] manager of the Constellation  Program. “It was one of the cleanest design reviews I’ve witnessed, the result of outstanding work by the Ground Operations Project.”
...
Although the proposed FY2011 budget for NASA cancels the Constellation Program, the agency is continuing to fully comply with provisions of the FY 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which prohibits terminating or  eliminating Constellation activities. <<<

For Ares I, never.  And that is not being facetious.

The access and umbilical arms are just now completing the design cycle.
The contracts to build them have not even been let.
Thus, they have not yet been built.
As Jim put it: For Ares I, Never.

Direct could and has recommended using this pad. Saves costs and can replace the aging SV mlps. The tower will need to be removed from the MLP and attached to where the FSS was (it would be removed). MLP base would be modified.

It's been a while since I posted any photos. The site has been cleaned up, all the major construction equipment is gone. There are a few guys left doing what looks to be the last little details of the construction work. Any way, here are some photos of the ML as it stands today. Enjoy! :-X

What will be done with it given the change in direction for the program?

As of now it looks like some will be built to test the designs and for experience for the design teams but I doubt they will make it out of the LETF in their present form. We hope not to repeat the following.
