I agree with the others. How cool would it be to see that in IMAX format?? :)
I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.

Impressive, but will be even more impressive when it's real TV pictures.

It's beyond my ability to imagine a cliff wall 25,000 feet high. That's amazing. The Grand Canyon on Earth is the result of water-induced erosion. Is the one on Mars due to seismic or don't they know yet?

F-ing amazing, though

Imagine the first humans who ride a rover near this thing, walk the last steps to the edge and see the whole thing with their own eyes...

Well, almost certainly not by water alone. The Grand Canyon was cut away by flash floods in a river that was cutting through an uplifting land mass, so even the Grand Canyon is as much a tectonic feature as it a water feature. Nor is it likely to be a rift (in the sense of the African Rift valley), simply because there is little evidence of plate tectonics on Mars. I'm sure the full answer isn't known yet, but my bet is that Valles Marineris will turn out to be a split caused by cooling and contraction of the surrounding lithosphere, after the last major melting event.

Now, if we really drive Spirit and Opportunity hard, maybe they could look and see?!

I think that alone will justify making the trip !

olympus mons and valles marineris really must be a sight to behold, and watching this video, it is truly inspiring that we seriously think about going there for ourselves

(can't wait !)

Or fly over it in a Mars plane.  I smile just thinking about it. :)
