我国首颗地球物理场探测业务卫星“张衡一号”02星成功发射
Our country's first geophysical field detection satellite "Zhang Heng 1" 02 satellite was successfully launched
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, June 14 (Reporter Song Chen) The reporter learned from the National Space Administration that at 15:56 on June 14, my country successfully launched the electromagnetic monitoring satellite "Zhang Heng 1" 02 satellite at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center using the Long March 2D carrier rocket. The carrier rocket sent the satellite into the predetermined orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.
This message reflects my personal opinion based on open sources of information.

A large Italian scientific component is participating in the mission, operating within the Limadou collaboration, a network coordinated by ASI with the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), and the contribution of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the National Research Council (CNR – IFAC) and the Italian universities of L’Aquila, Bologna, Rome Tor Vergata, Turin, Naples, Trento and the International Telematic University UniNettuno.

CSES-02 will operate in tandem with the twin satellite CSES-01, launched in 2018 and still operational. The mission's objective is the observation and analysis of ionospheric and magnetospheric phenomena linked to extreme geophysical events such as earthquakes, as well as atmospheric and Space Weather phenomena, such as geomagnetic storms and high-energy solar particles.

The Italian participation in the mission, led by ASI, sees our country at the forefront of technological and scientific development. Two of the eleven instruments on board the satellite were designed and built in Italy: HEPD-02 (High-Energy Particle Detector), a high-energy particle detector developed by INFN in collaboration with CNR and the academic world, and EFD-02 (Electric Field Detector), built jointly by INFN and INAF for the measurement of the electric field, both redesigned to increase their performance and the scientific information contained in the data.

“The mission data will be available to the community through the ASI SSDC data center, with a view to promoting multidisciplinary research in the fields of geophysics, ionospheric physics and Space Weather”.

“With the launch of CSES-02, the first satellite constellation designed to study rapid geophysical phenomena from space takes shape. The analysis of the data collected by the twin CSES-01 has led to the publication of more than 200 high-quality scientific articles in less than seven years”, commented Roberto Iuppa, national project manager for the INFN

"Zhang Heng No. 1" 02 is the first geophysical field detection business satellite in the medium- and long-term development plan of the national civil space infrastructure. It was jointly developed by China and Italy, with a design life of 6 years
[...]
According to reports, the Zhang Heng-1 02 satellite was upgraded and developed based on the Zhang Heng-1 01 satellite. The Zhang Heng-1 01 satellite is a scientific research satellite, and its main task is to verify related technologies. The Zhang Heng-1 02 satellite is a business satellite. Based on the capabilities of the 01 satellite, it will be more invested in actual business applications.

Peng Wei, Deputy Director of the System Engineering Department of the National Space Administration: Compared with the scientific research satellite (Zhang Heng-1 01 satellite), the business satellite (Zhang Heng-1 02 satellite) has mostly inherited the state, which is relatively the same, but this satellite has a different payload, called the ionospheric optical meter. This payload can mainly measure some parameters of our ionosphere and neutral atmosphere structure more accurately. We now expect it to be improved by an order of magnitude.

Satellite captures electromagnetic waves and provides data based on the laws of space-time correlation

Zhang Heng was an astronomer and pioneer of seismology in the Eastern Han Dynasty. He invented the world's first seismograph, the Houfeng seismograph. The Zhang Heng-1 series of satellites are named after Zhang Heng, which also symbolizes the continuation and innovation of China's earthquake monitoring technology. How are satellites in the sky connected to earthquakes?

During the formation of an earthquake, the friction and rupture of crustal rocks will release electromagnetic waves, and at the same time, the movement of the crust will cut the earth's magnetic field lines, causing local electromagnetic field distortion. The detection equipment carried by the "Zhang Heng No. 1" series of satellites can accurately capture this type of electromagnetic waves. Researchers provide data support for earthquake precursor research by analyzing the temporal and spatial correlation between them and seismic activities.

[...]

In the division of labor between China and Italy, China is mainly responsible for the overall development, launch, and measurement, operation and control of the satellite, and Italy is mainly responsible for leading the development of the electric field detector and high-energy particle detector on the satellite. China and Italy have carried out in-depth cooperation in payload development, data sharing, scientific research and other aspects.
