I have registered for a chance to buy 134 tickets for a single Mum friend who has a lifelong dream to see a launch (I've seen 2 launches, but she's never seen one after trying to see 133 and flying down from Toronto).  A few of us a registering for tickets to try to get her tickets for her and her daughter.

For myself, my hubby would not be a happy camper if I went again (as much as I would love to).  However, if there's another NASA tweetup for a launch and I'm one of the lucky few selected, all bets are off!!

Booked some affordable flights from London, UK, so everything now crossed for April launch.  Just wondered if anyone has any spare hotel reservations they don't want(?!) - availability now difficult and prices obviously high, which, I would scrape up for, but tripadvisor reviews seem to label them full of cockroaches/termites/blood/dirt.
Will probably hire a car so wondering whether to stay further out, but didn't really want to be as far as Orlando. Any suggestions gratefully received, I've spent about 9 hours straight trying to research everything about the launch (fantastic forum here!), and mostly hitting blanks with accommodation.
Just need 18th-19th (have booked 20th-21st fine, guess a lot of people are relying on it going up on time). What are the regulations/penalties in USA of sleeping in a car? Just get told to drive on? Not really an option but might be preferrable to paying $277 to sleep with cockroaches for one night....

As mentioned, I've been reading launch information for 9 hours straight, as well as following the ups and downs of the last 4 months of STS-133 - was orig planning on STS-134 Feb launch, and nearly put in for STS-133 lottery but couldn't make Nov dates work.
Got flights 500 GBP less than I've seen them in the last 4 months, at some point you have to decide if you're going to take your chances. Have always wanted to go to KSC, so decided to go for it with a small chance of a launch.

We're booked in New Smyrna Beach which is north of KSC. It is a bit father than Cocoa Beach but it had better reviews and the prices were much better! Someone also told me that the traffic might not be so bad as for the CB area too! We plan to spend our extra time (in case of scrubs) at the beach etc so I wanted a decent place to stay. We booked months ago, I'm not sure if there is any availability left but you could check it out.

As PP mentioned be prepared for slips! All my reservations have a 24 hour cancellation policy so I can easily move them. My flights are with Southwest where I can change with no extra fees. Of course since I've been planning this sine 1/10 for the original 7/29 launch I have rebooked several times!  ::)  Really hoping this time is a charm!

Brilliant, thank you so much, just made a (cancellable) reservation up there way cheaper than anything else I'd seen.
Unfortunately I don't have a very flexible schedule, and had almost given up hope of there being any affordable UK flights as its so near Easter. I'm covering the 7 days that I can of the launch window, hoping to see it on the pad, and staying realistic. If it slips, then, I have a great time at KSC instead, but at least I tried.
If they scrub and decide next attempt is 2-3 days time, do KSCVC run the standard bus tours again on the non-launch day(s) in between, ie to see it on the pad? Perhaps without the RSS?

One question for all you viewing veterans....

Regarding Causeway tickets, KSC are quite clear on the tickets following the launch if delayed, but that they are "spent" once you actually board the bus driving you out there...

Now, the obvious question, and which I for the life of me cannot find anywhere, is how you go about it if the launch is scrubbed after you have been bussed out to the causeway... Which isn't all that unlikely when you think about it.

I would assume CW ticket holders having priority on going again for a second or third launch attempt, but I can find no information on that point at all, nor any info on how it is solved practically.

Just for anyone who HAS NOT registered for the lottery for STS-134, you must enter before 5pm EST TONIGHT.  That's 55 MINUTES.

Went through two causeway scrubs with STS-127.  When the busses returned to KSC we were provided with "vouchers" that enabled us to go out front to the KSC ticket booths (well actually 2 of them) and buy LTT tickets for the next attempt.  If I recall the cost was $20 plus tax = $21.20?   Actually for the second attempt they handed us the vouchers as we boarded the busses in anticipation of a scrub.

As others have said throughout the STS-133 thread, the tour companies apparently do NOT offer this option - you do not go back to the VC and therefore have no opportunity to buy again.

Apparently things are still go for the 19th as of now, at least that's my understanding.  Then again I get all my info on goings on from this site, I'm a couple thousand miles away from the OPF and VAB.

I wonder when we'll hear who "won the lottery"....I've got my eyes peeled for emails from the KSC VC in my inbox.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

We would know if it was the 23rd by now.  All things are currently pointing to the 19th.  There's still a lot of time between now and then, though,  so things *could* change, but everything as of right now says the 19th.  Chris wouldn't withhold information like that.

Actually the tour companies do. It's $55 to return. $20 for the LTT and $35 for the transportation.

KSCVC tweeted this earlier today:

STS-134 Launch Ticket Registrants: Throughout the next week, you should receive a notification email if you have been selected to purchase tickets or not. Good luck!

I really hated to mention the word rumor on here. Actually, I hadn't heard it until I read back a couple of pages, hence the edit. Mostly wondering what info the tour companies are teasing everyone with.

A slip to the 23rd wouldn't hurt my feelings, my sons' school is probably tired of their absences due to these "special field trips" :)

Thanks to both of you for the info - glad to hear  ;D

For my part, a cost in the frame you guys are talking about is no real issue here - the important part is to have the option to get new tickets at all.

The real cost is plane and hotel anyway  ;)

Oh FFS... I missed the lottery registration by 1 day. I spent 2 months looking at the site every day, then I stop for a few days and its come and gone.

At least this time I will have a fighting chance at getting Gator/Dolphin tickets.

Unless, anyone has extras they don't want to put on ebay for a kings ransom ($1600 for a pair!).

I just went with Dolphin to the Causeway for STS-133.

In the event of a scrub ONCE YOU ARE ON THE CAUSEWAY, Dolphin does not return to KSC and they will not re-sell you Causeway tickets (LTT).  For $25 you can re-schedule and view the launch from the Visitor's Center.

If they scrub anytime BEFORE THEY COLLECT YOUR CAUSEWAY ticket(LTT), then you can reschedule for $25 for the next launch attempt and your Causeway ticket (LTT) is still good.

It's a gamble, I know, I just lived through it!  And there are no guarantees.  For me, just for the chance that I might possibly be able to see it from the causeway was worth the cost.

I called them before I bought tickets for STS-133 because there is no way I would buy tickets if that's how they did it. They told me you could get another LTT ticket if it scrubbed while we were on the causeway. Actually I was just looking on their facebook page and found this.

Question: What is the procedure when a launch is cancelled after we've gone out to the causeway? I understand that once the LTT tickets are collected, they're gone. If that happens, do we get a chance to buy new LTT tickets for the next launch attempt?

Nicholas: Saw an answer to this question on another site and I've copied it to here :

The blue ticket (marked STS-133) is good until Discovery launches. If we travel to the causeway and have a scrub then the green ticket is considered used (NASA policy). If they allow us back on the causeway it’s $20 for another green ticket and a further $25 for transportation from FDT). Hold on to your blue ticket until she launches. It is up to NASA if they will allow people back to causeway.

Florida Dolphin Tours, Inc: couldnt have said it better Nicholas!

However, I am really starting to wonder what the truth is. I have heard both versions from tour guides on the busses. This includes the multiple bus trips to KSC for the November launch attempt. Some of the guides saying you can get another LTT and others saying you can't and end up at the KSCVC. It makes me want to get it in writing.
