On Sunday, 18 July, in the Ulyanovsk area, the special-purpose train carrying a Proton launch vehicle collided with an oncoming train. No visible damage has been sustained by the rocket. Proton LVs are covered by insurance. The train resumed its journey to the destination. There is sufficient backup capacity and equipment at Baikonur where checkouts will be performed upon arrival. It will then be decided whether or not the launch vehicle is fit for further use.If required, a backup Proton launch vehicle is available, and the incident is not likely to impact the GLONASS spacecraft launch scheduled for September.The launch will take place as planned.
The accident occurred when carriages of the rocket's train caught the carriages of an incoming train. It happened because both trains had bigger than normal carriages, so when they were passing the carriages scraped each other, a source at Baikonur told Interfax.

Prelaunch operations with Glonass-M satellite continue at Baikonur. Reshetnev-ISS and Yuzhny Space Center specialists installed solar arrays on the spacecraft today. This operation is one of the final in the testing flow of the spaceraft at Baikonur.
