Individual equipment and gear for Oleg Artemiev

By the decision of the Interdepartmental Commission, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev was included in the backup crew of the long-term expedition ISS-65 as a flight engineer. Not only the main crew, but also the backup crews must be fully prepared for the upcoming space flight. In this regard, in February of this year, Oleg Artemyev plans to try on a Sokol KV-2 spacesuit fitted to his figure, as well as a lodgment made especially for the cosmonaut. Experts of the Research and Production Enterprise "Zvezda" try to perform the work efficiently and on time.

The Kazbek-UM chair is used in the Soyuz MS spacecraft. It consists of a frame, an individual cradle and an adjustable shock absorber-lift. The chair inlay is made in several stages. Measurements are taken from the cosmonaut, placed in a specialized bath with plaster of paris - first without a spacesuit, then in a spacesuit. On the basis of the plaster version, an individual cradle is made of polyurethane, its weight is no more than 7 kg.

“The lodgement is done so carefully in order to evenly distribute the load on the astronaut's body. Upon landing or in the event of an emergency, an individual lodgment will minimize possible damage and avoid injury to the body, ”said Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev .

The Sokol KV-2 spacesuit is designed to ensure the life and performance of the crew members in the event of depressurization of the descent vehicle in the most dangerous flight areas: launch, docking, undocking and descent. Spacesuits are also made individually for each astronaut.

“About 50-70 measurements are taken in order to make a spacesuit. And when it is already placed in the lodgement, even the location of the folds is taken into account. I will have a fitting in February, but I'm pretty sure there won't be anything to redo. Excellent specialists work at NPP Zvezda, ”the cosmonaut emphasized.

Oleg Artemyev judges the high quality of the products of this enterprise not by hearsay. Here, similar equipment and equipment was already produced for him before two flights into space.

The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with the Soyuz MS-18 manned spacecraft is scheduled for April 2021.

Research and Production Enterprise "Zvezda"  is a leading Russian enterprise in the field of creating individual life support systems for pilots and cosmonauts, means of rescuing crews and passengers in case of aircraft accidents, systems for refueling aircraft in flight.

Mike Fincke, Butch Wilmore, Jeanette Epps (Boeing CFT crew)

Did Epps get moved from Suni Williams' crew to the Crewed Flight Test?

Not ;)

Thanks! I didn't think that was likely, but I still wasn't sure.

How is the transition from Expedition 64 to 65 planned?
As far as is known, Akihiko Hoshide is to become the commander of  Expedition 65.
That makes a difficult overlap. Hoshide would have to arrive on the ISS with SpaceX Crew 2 before Sergey Ryzhikov leaves it with Soyuz MS17.
At the same time, the Soyuz-MS17 crew will be handed over to the Soyuz-MS18 crew.
To a direct handover of SpaceX Crew 1 to Crew 2 one could perhaps do without.
Kathleen Rubins returns to earth with Soyuz-MS17. So that the US segment does not remain empty.

In the worst case, there would be a crew on the ISS of 14 for a few days. I don't think that's possible.
Am i thinking wrong?

Thank you, the German Wikipedia actually says Oleg Novitsky. The English still writes Akihiko Hoshide.
Perhaps the crew changes in the Russian and American segments should be offset by 3 months in the future.
Otherwise this situation will arise again.

Thanks for clarifying--I've been confused on this one, too. As if what GWR64 said wasn't enough, Wikipedia has also said that Shannon Walker would be commanding it.

My understanding is that there were 13 onboard ISS during a couple shuttle missions (while STS-131 and STS-127 were docked) so it's not that much of a stretch from past levels.

There were triple two Soyuz spacecrafts with space shuttle docked to the ISS with maximum 13 people aboard ISS:

1) Soyuz TMA-14, Soyuz TMA-15 and STS-127 (July 17 - 28, 2009)
2) Soyuz TMA-14, Soyuz TMA-15 and STS-128 (August 30 - September 8, 2009)
3) Soyuz TMA-17, Soyuz TMA-18 and STS-131 (April 7 - 17, 2010).

Expedition 65 is scheduled to be the 65th long duration expedition to the International Space Station. The mission is scheduled to begin on 9 April 2021, with the departure of Soyuz MS-17. The senior crew will be made up of SpaceX Crew-2 crew members Shane Kimbrough, Akihiko Hoshide, Megan McArthur and Thomas Pesquet, who will transfer from Expedition 64, with Hoshide taking command of the station for the increment. They will be joined by Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky, Pyotr Dubrov and Sergey Korsakov, who will launch on Soyuz MS-18.

I guess that's old information, isn't it?

I think AB just copy their bios from Wikipedia so its not exactly a ironclad information.

NASA’s @SpaceX Crew-2 mission will launch four astronauts to the @Space_Station no earlier than April 20

It will be the first mission to fly two international partner crew members as part of @NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. Learn more about the crew:
