Based on this conversation heard on 10 Apr... "Anne just asked which EMUs are planned for use for the 01 May EVA,  Luca Parmitano responded "we'll let you know when we have an answer.""

From the Soyuz MS-27 thread:
Kim and Onishi helping doning EVA suits during training to Ayers and McClain.
Maybe another all-female spacewalk?

T+183 (2.26.24): No "i" in team. So much of what we do is support each other. Which is why we train so much in helping each other suit up before an EVA. When we say we put our lives in each other's hands, we mean it. That means being meticulous with each connection, following checklists, and backing each other up.

Crew is evaluating the previously discussed fan noise and whether it is any worse with ground controllers.

The ground is not receiving calls from the airlock so they have asked the crew to swap a mic from node 3.  All spares on orbit are suspect.

Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers will perform the spacewalk:

Quote
Astronauts Prep for May Spacewalk Amid Human Research and Crew Departure
April 15, 2025

Two NASA astronauts are preparing their spacesuits for a spacewalk planned for the beginning of May to ready the International Space Station for a new rollout solar array. In the meantime, the rest of the Expedition 72 crew on Tuesday kept up its ongoing vision, respiratory, and circulatory system research ahead of this weekend’s crew departure.

Flight Engineers Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers have been tapped by mission managers to exit the orbital outpost’s Quest airlock on May 1 for a spacewalk and work six-and-half hours in the vacuum of space. The NASA duo will install a modification kit on the port side of the station’s truss structure enabling the future installation of the orbiting lab’s seventh rollout solar array. They will also relocate an antenna that communicates with approaching and departing commercial crew and cargo spacecraft. McClain will be going on her third spacewalk and Ayers will be conducting her first spacewalk.

McClain and Ayers spent Tuesday inside Quest adjusting the spacesuits ensuring the helmets, boots, and arm and leg assemblies they will wear fit together. Next, the pair powered up and checked the functionality of suit components such as  glove heaters, data recorders, cameras, and helmet lights. Finally, McClain and Ayers began collecting and configuring the tools they will use during the upcoming maintenance spacewalk.

Anne and Vapor are in the airlock working with the IROSA hardware.  The EVA controller on duty is working with the crew directly, somewhat rare to be bypassing CAPCOM for internal operations.

Two NASA astronauts will venture outside the International Space Station, conducting U.S. spacewalk 93 on Thursday, May 1, to complete station upgrades.

NASA will preview the upcoming spacewalk during a news conference at 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, April 24, on the agency’s website from NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Learn how to watch NASA content through a variety of platforms, including social media.

Participants in the news conference include:

·      Bill Spetch, operations integration manager, International Space Station Program

·      Diana Trujillo, spacewalk flight director, NASA Johnson

Media interested in participating in person or by phone must contact the Johnson newsroom no later than 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at: 281-483-5111 or [email protected]. To ask questions, media must dial in no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of the news conference. Questions also may be submitted on social media using #AskNASA.

The spacewalk is scheduled to last about six and a half hours. NASA will provide additional information, including live NASA+ coverage details, when available.

NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers will relocate a space station communications antennae and install a mounting bracket ahead of the installation of an additional set of International Space Station Rollout Solar Arrays, also called IROSA. The arrays will boost power generation capability by up to 30%, increasing the station’s total available power from 160 kilowatts to up to 215 kilowatts. The arrays will be installed on a future spacewalk following their arrival on a SpaceX Dragon commercial resupply services mission later this year.

McClain will serve as spacewalk crew member 1 and will wear a suit with red stripes. Ayers will serve as spacewalk crew member 2 and will wear an unmarked suit. This will be the third spacewalk for McClain and the first for Ayers. U.S. spacewalk 93 will be the 275th spacewalk in support of space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.

Lots of EVA (spacewalk) prep this week!

We resized the spacesuits to fit @AstroAnnimal  and me (pic 1), cleared out the suits and gear we won’t need in the airlock for this EVA (pics 2 & 3), and spent some time getting familiar with the modification kit we’ll be installing.

We also packed all the parts into a bag that I’ll carry with us out to the work site (pic 4). We’re affectionately calling it EV3 because it’s about 8 feet long and weighs around 300 lbs! It’ll be slow and steady for me as I carry it out to the base of the solar arrays.

I didn't catch 3015 being installed in the airlock, 3013 was last installed with 3003,  and don't remember it being used recently.  Was it brought up recently?

An EMU swap is underway in the airlock.  No suit numbers heard.  The mini work station is being moved so I don't think this is a swap to perform periodic maintenance on a suit not being used for the EVA.

It appears that the Youtube stream for the EVA-93 preview press conference was fouled up.
If someone sees an archive of the press conference please post the link.

Oh, so the press conference actually happened?  I was waiting for that Youtube stream to start, and when it didn't I assumed that it had been cancelled:

According to https://www.nasa.gov/live/ :

PSA #1: Suppress forum auto-embed of Youtube videos by deleting leading 'www.' (four char) in YT URL; useful when linking text to YT, or to avoid bloat.
PSA #2: EST does NOT mean "Eastern".  Use "Eastern" or "ET" instead, all year, and avoid this common error.  Google "EST vs EDT".  *** two more tips in profile ***
