This was my holiday weekend read and wished I had started this sooner! It basically takes each major component of the STS platform and goes into analysis, stories, and real-world experiences in the program.

I highly recommend it for shuttle fans as it's far more than "just a history" of this magnificent flying machine.

This book is basically a summary of the challenges faced by engineers when designing the Space Shuttle, and how those hurdles were overcome when the Space Shuttles were manufactured.

Not much to learn there.. you can fix most anything if you chuck enough money at it.  But as we all know, there were a few insurmountable ones even money couldn't fix when the shuttles were finally retired.

"Butterfly strapped to a bullet" was Story Musgrave's favorite description.
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine - however, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are
going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead.

Most of these stories had no connection to throwing money.
