I've been getting 500 Gateway errors starting last night, off and on.  Came here to see if anybody else got the same.  I'll try screen printing and documenting date and time when they occur.   Tony

No obvious signs of any issues, but it can happen. The thing I'd ask is if anyone ever sees one, it will clear the next time you refresh unless it's a serious issue (which we'd get to know about), but before you refresh look for the RAY ID at the bottom of the error notice and copy that to me so I can pass it on to Mark. It's like a finger print of what went wrong.

Basically, one of our hosts is cloudflare and it likes to act like monitoring, so any issue, it'll come up saying it in a nice overview, but with that RAY ID number at the bottom. So it's all very clever to track an issue, even if it was just for a second or so.

Will Do, and yes the incidents I had were from Cloudflare and refreshing did not help.I just waited a few minutes and came back in.

Sounds like it could have been local as "a few minutes" is something we'd absolutely notice. Not happened since?

A few seconds, that can always happen with sites. Not a few minutes, so yeah the RAY ID would help in future.

Chris, it hasn't happened now since I posted.  It must have been a fluke.  I'll close this for now.  I'll nab the RAY ID if it occurs again.

When using the Dark Reader extension in Chrome, images within Twitter inclusions are colour inverted.

All other images on the forum are fine.

Example of how it looks to me with Dark Reader on:
1) Tweet
2) NSF Attachment of same image

Looks like it's inverting all images, because both of those look identical to me

Oh My, A million Thanks ARB for finding this.  I do all my reading in the dark.  It's so much more pleasant to read now.

I normally dread reading "new posts" on this thread as it's usually about a problem, so that was nice! ;D

Had a couple of 525 errors. Mark says he was preparing the server hamsters for DM-1 and issues may have been seen between 8 mins after the hour and 15 mins after the hour (in the hour of this post). So providing we see no more it was just that.

Remember, we need a RAY ID if you ever see the Error page. It tells you this and you can pass it on so we can nail down what the issue was.

And the 504 at 21:37 UTC was on purpose to finish the corrective action.

Wow. OK, that wasn't good. Down for five mins. Several sites were. Including Reddit! Sorry about that!

Site's busy due to Elon tweets with links here, but we're doing fine on these new hamsters. A good test.  8)

Yeah, I've seen a few. Literally for a few seconds, so not impacting, but I have two Ray IDs of my own and I'll pass the colleciton on to Mark so he can pin that down.

Blimey, that was a 10 minute bad gateway. OK, we may need to take a server hamster for a checkup. Will be done in the morning UTC when Mark is awake.

Fair play to the forum returning to action on its own, however!

PS We know there will be some one second 502s on occasion for the next few hours until Mark employs a change, to make you all aware if you see one. Probably prudent, if on the very small off chance you catch one, that if making a post, save a copy first then post, as there's a 1 percent chance someone's going to make a long post, hit post, and it goes 502.

No one has suffered from that yet, but wanted to at least provide the mitigation.

Will update when Mark employs the fix. Again, chances are 99.9 percent of you won't see a 502.

We think we've found the culprit. May be one or two "1-2 second" 502s as we clear it. Again, you may not notice, but be aware.

And fixed. Please note the RAY ID if you see another one, but the hope is you won't get one.
