I think they blew up block 5 fairing on the stand in McGregor. Just wait for tomorrow's Washington Post.

I pre-emptively call fake news on that. Wouldn't that require adding explosives to it...?  :P

We need to speculate about the payload because...
Well it’s a party thread tradition (I am making up right now)
How about Zumba being the Crossbow project from real genius ( unmanned of course)

Now, now.  He didn't say they *exploded* a fairing.  He said they *blew up* a fairing.  Obviously, blowing up a fairing, as shown by the model photo linked earlier in this thread, and having that result in a standdown can only be the result of one of two things: burning or unpopped kernels

Burning would seem to be more strictly procedural, so I'm going to assume they're studying the unpopped kernels to determine whether it was procedural (too short a firing) or a physical flaw (kernel moisture content out of spec).  If it's the latter, there's likely to be some amount of delay while they characterize the moisture content and, if necessary, swap things out.

The Zuma launch is using a new proprietary fairing material to maximize payload theories.

I introduce to you the new TFH payload fairing.
That’s a fairing derivative of the Skylab hats from the 70's. There must be some worry that the payload will negatively interact with the decaying orbit of the Chinese station. It all makes sense now.
Solid Rocket boosters get a bum rap. " Fireworks," I beg your pardon Sir! Cheap thrust is still thrust.

I think the while fairing issue for Zuma is a misdirection. The put out the delay story, then went ahead and launched last Thursday.

Most useless achievement of the day: My like of something got the thread to exactly 1000 likes. Is that awesome or what?

And I would add 500 likes, and I would add 500 more!

A little Möbius müsic for your endless pleasure!  ;)

And nobody noticed. Because.. um... because reasons.

So you're saying the launch is one big smoke screen

The flat Earthers are stepping up their onslaught - now they are saying that satellites themselves are a myth. The irony is; they are using broadband internet technology that is increasingly relying on satellites to send their data. Old undersea phone cables still getting lots of use, but that will change soon.

Do the flat earthers ever have a convention?  I would love to go to one.  Just give me a list of questions please.

As Nacnud said in the post after yours, it's all a big smoke screen (And every launch has a lot of smoke!).

They could have easily disguised the rocket. For example, they could have painted "Not a rocket" on it, so that anyone seeing it go up (such as the tourists at KSC)  would have thought it something else - a bird, a brick, a Vogon construction ship, whatever.

That or deep in Musk's Volcano Lair, he's succeeded in inventing a means to project an SEP field to hide the launch.

Perhaps we can come up with a 100 page thread in the New Physics forum to discuss this incredible development!

Hush, or the next one will be scheduled at 'Stratford on Avon'.
