Two commercial satellites, #SES20 #SES21, which will relay television channels to millions of homes across America, are aboard their ULA #AtlasV rocket at Cape Canaveral, Florida, for launch into near-geosynchronous orbit.

United Launch Alliance is moving forward with all launch operations including rollout of the #AtlasV rocket at this time for a launch on Sept 30 from Florida. Before anyone makes any connection to SLS, massively different as Atlas can rollout 2 to 1.5 days before launch. 1/x

What’s more, @ulalaunch stresses that while that is the current plan, they continue to work with the @SLDelta45 to monitor weather conditions even though there are no planned closures to their facilities at this time.

The ULA #AtlasV launch of #SES20 #SES21 is delayed due to potential impacts from Hurricane Ian. Both satellites are integrated to launch vehicle & safely secured within the Vehicle Integration Facility at SLC-41. Pending range approval, launch is scheduled for 10/4 @ 5:36pmEDT.

Crew-5 has now slipped to Oct 4 too, at 12:23pm EDT. If both dates hold, could be an interesting demonstration of the Eastern range’s flexibility.

ULA just filed for an FCC permit for launch communications.

ULA has delayed the launch of the Atlas V 531 carrying SES-20 & SES-21 by 4 days due to #HurricaneIan. The vehicle will remain in the Vertical Integration Facility, which will protect it from the wind forces. If the range approves the new  date, liftoff would be at 21:36 UTC.
