There must be a good reason because they have a lot of white space further up the booster cores and they actually over-draw the logo across one of the landing legs. It's interesting because I would assume that is not just a random location, there must be a logic to it to go to that extra trouble.

Because the top half of the first stage gets covered in ice when they fill it with liquid oxygen and you wouldn't be able to see the logo anymore.

And the bottom half will be covered in soot after some flights and the logo will not be visible either. Put it on the interstage!

SpaceX covered in soot is SpaceX's unofficial logo.
Space is not Highlander.  There can, and will, be more than one.

Has the scale/size of the logo changed since they unveiled the F9v1.0?
Shouldn't reality posts be in "Advanced concepts"?  --Nomadd

Any higher and the decal’s mass will affect the center of gravity, destabilizing the rocket... :)

Actually, the FH logo is on the interstage, same as for F9. Perhaps that's why they cleaned the interstage (but not the rest of the stage) for the CRS-13 S1 reuse? Of course it was sooty again by landing.
