Starting this thread off with Michael Baylor's announcement four weeks ago (discussed here):

https://twitter.com/MichaelBaylorSF/status/1663971922621898752

Since NextSF is now officially an NSF property, I think it's appropriate to have a forum thread here where we can post questions about it.  Not all of us do Twitter :)  I'll post my specific question in a new comment below.

PSA #1:  Suppress forum auto-embed of Youtube videos by deleting leading 'www.' (four characters) in YT URL; useful when linking text to YT, or just to avoid bloat.
PSA #2:  Users who particularly annoy you can be suppressed in forum view via Modify Profile -> Buddies / Ignore List.  *** See profile for two more NSF forum tips. ***

First an observation and then my question.  Last week I was at KSC showing my 12yo nephew around the place, which included two bus rides (the one big tour, and the ride back to the VC complex).  On BOTH bus rides, the commentator specifically recommended the NextSpaceflight app to the entire audience for launch schedule information!  I'm so glad to see this high-quality data resource getting the exposure it deserves.

My specific question is about the calendar integration.  At the very bottom of the NextSF home page is a tiny "calendar" link to this page:

https://nextspaceflight.com/calendar/

... and that then provides this ICS calendar feed link:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/nextspaceflight.com_l328q9n2alm03mdukb05504c44%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

... that you can import into your calendar of choice.  AWESOME!  I've been using (and Patreon-supporting) NextSF for a while but didn't know about this until recently.

Can an NSF-er here comment on whether that calendar feed will continue to be supported?  I guess as long as you don't change the platform that Michael built, it'll just keep working.

I do see that launch event data has continued to be updated in June, so thanks for taking on this additional work!

Howdy! First of all thanks for sharing that regarding the bus tour folks recommending the app, that's great to hear.

Now to your question, you can expect that to continue to be supported. We are in the very early stages of discussing possible updates to the platform as a whole, but I will make sure that this feature is built into that when they do come, but I don't expect that to be very soon.

I'm happy to watch this thread and will try to respond to any feedback that comes in.

data error report:

In the Events section, the website / app lists the Japanese SLIM spacecraft's target as the "Marius Hills Hole" (a lava tube skylight), but the target is actually the Shioli Crater, which is nowhere near Marius.  Phil Stooke confirmed this for me today in the SLIM thread, and if anyone would know, it's Phil.

The calendar for Nextspaceflight feed to Microsoft Calendar doesn't seem to be updating for the last few days.
Super Heavy/Starship is still showing for yesterday (Monday) and the next couple of Falcon 9 launches are missing.

Thanks for agreeing to take this on Chris.

I was wondering if the flight restrictions over Starbase had changed, and went to the NXF app to check.  The "Temporary Flight Restrictions" section was empty.  I updated my app, and now I don't see it at all.  Did NSF/NXF decide to remove that content?  Understandable, just checking.

The TFR expired on December 31, 2023. A new one was not created to replace it. I have no idea why not. In the past a new TFR was created a couple of days before the old one expired.

Thank you Ken!  I actually asked that TFR question over in the SpaceX FAA thread, and have now copied your answer over there.  Alex seems to disagree so you might want to go look over there.

Here, I'm asking about the change to NXF :)  So now my guess is that if there is no TFR, the app (and website) suppresses entirely the display of the TFR section.

The TFRs mentioned in that thread are classified as Security, not Space Operations. That's why I didn't notice them, and if the NXF app still looks at TFRs, it would presumably ignore them as well.

I have no idea if the NXF app has changed. I don't even use it, much less have anything to do with its development.

I see the app was updated last week with various improvements.  Hooray!

In addition to my TFR question above, a related one:  do road closures still appear in the app?  They used to.  I realize that there are no road closure active as I type this, but one may be coming up very VERY soon, so this functionality could be tested ...

I'm just today getting a Trojan warning. I'm guessing it has to do with the advertisement. See the screenshot of the error message in the lower right-hand corner.  It's not every time, I cycle through sever times and get this message around 1 out of 3 attempts.

It's Tony De La Rosa, ...I don't create this stuff, I just report it.

App developer here! In the next update, the road closure section won't disappear when there are no closures, that was just an oversight in transitioning to the new app. As for the TFRs, we are looking into it.
