Nixon is under-rated.

But seriously, good luck you guys!

The NK-33 protested the lack of live video feed.
I'm wondering if the first launch will even be webcast.  It isn't a NASA mission exactly, as I understand things.

I thought the flight is one of the COTS "risk reduction" milestones paid for by additional NASA funds. This would make it different than SpaceX maiden flight, perhaps more similar to their COTS-1 flight. That launch was covered by NASA.

Hotfire today....let's get the party started. Big day for Orbital!

Hotfire today....let's get the party started. Big day for Orbital!

Lets just hope the snow that's starting to fall in the DC area will not hinder them this evening.

Past two days of tests, as my fiancee put it "surprisingly everything went well and like it was supposed to" so I guess that's a good sign!

Hope we get something more than a successful test fire memo today, but Orbital has seemed to have little interest in generating any type of buzz for Antares/Cygnus.

It's a party thread...not a party-pooper thread :P.

I'm positive they will generate more interest once they are out of the testing phase. I wouldn't want people all up in my business while trying to get last minute tests completed on my rocket.

I'll even put money on it that there will be some form of social media event for the first launch demonstration... ;-)

Nice Tshirt! As for generating interest, It seems most people on this forum are more interested in a possible launch to Mars that has a hope and a prayer of happening. I don't get it. Orbital is the second leg to a successful US cargo program (SpaceX being the first). If they get this right tonight they will have come a long way towards validating commercial space's potential for doing big things. This is of REAL importance. When Cygnus finally launches, the US will have 2 cargo vehicles serving the ISS. Those are real vehicles not powerpoints. Both programs, Orbital and SpaceX have come a LONG way. We need to support both of their programs.

Nah, if you read in context, it's a response to some fairly brusque comments from NASAWatch.
