FYI, the Measat satellite has not yet arrived at Dulles for repairs.  They are being told June.

No, ILS refused. It was just a rumour.

That is not correct.

Moving off of Land Launch to a much more expensive Proton is not in every company's budget.

Land Launch utilised a Zenit-2SB60 rocket. But I stumbled upon references to a 2SB40 and 2SB80. Anyone know what they are for?

Zenit-2SB60 is two-stage rocket for Zenit-3SLB three-stage rocket with DM-SLB upper stage. Zenit-2SB40 is two-stage rocket for Zenit-3SLBF three-stage rocket with Fregat-SB upper stage. I did not see Zenit-2SB80 nowhere.

2008
Date – Satellite(s) – Zenit type – Organization – Time (UTC)
July 16 – Echostar 11 – 3SL – SL – 05:21
August 21 – Measat-3A – 3SLB – LL
September – Galaxy 19 – 3SL – SL
4Q (TBD) – Telstar 11N – 3SLB – LL (or 2009)

2009
Date – Satellite(s) – Zenit type – Organization – Time (UTC)
February – Eutelsat W2A – 3SL – SL
2Q – Asiasat 5 – 3SLB – LL
2Q – Intelsat 15 – 3SLB – LL
3Q – Eutelsat W7 – 3SL – SL
3Q – AMC 1R – 3SLB – LL
TBD – XM 5 – 3SL – SL

2010
Date – Satellite(s) – Zenit type – Organization – Time (UTC)
1Q – Intelsat 16 – 3SLB – LL
3Q – MSV 2 – 3SL – SL

As always Anik you have the answer!

Only found references to 2SB80 with ukrainian spelling of Zenit.

Does raise question about production volumes if they are not using one common Zenit core.

Stan

Zenit-2SB80 is the one for Fregat
Zenit-2SB40 has no upper stage

I tend to give higher credit to a usually reliable insider rather than to an undated website.

But I'm still investigating.

Yes, the site is outdated. In full year financial report, SES announce the launch date for AMC 5R as 2010. They may move AMC 5R to Arianespace.

ILS Wrests Intelsat Launch Away from Land Launch
http://www.space.com/spacenews/spacenews_briefs.html

"The Intelsat IS-16 satellite will be launched aboard an International Launch Services (ILS) Proton rocket in 2010 under a contract expected to be valued at $75 million, according to industry officials. The deal is the latest example of ILS cutting prices to capture contracts to launch satellites that once would have been considered too small for the heavy-lift Proton vehicle."

http://www.space.com/spacenews/spacenews_briefs.html

"O3B has contracted with Sea Launch Co. of Long Beach, Calif., to launch the eight satellites aboard a single vehicle, but the company has recently elected to use the Russian Soyuz rocket operated by Europe's Arianespace consortium as launch provider for the initial eight satellites. Two Soyuz rockets would be required for the eight satellites. A contract with Arianespace has not yet been signed, however.

Switching from Sea Launch to Soyuz would make it easier for O3B to qualify for loan guarantees from France's Coface export credit agency."
