The HK-Sat contracts were cancelled in January 2003. Old story now.

BTW, weren't SM(M)S and HJ-1B the same satellite?

Your Rascom launch date might be quite optimistic.

AFAIK there's no real technical challenge here but money doesn't seem to be there. All the more that I'm not sure - despite what Xinhua said once - that the formal launch contract was actually signed (but I may be wrong).

July - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinasat-8

Has the SS/Loral-built Chinasat-8 finally cleared the export hurdles or is this an other satellite without ITAR restrictions?

Trying once again to have an idea about the chinese launch schedule for 2007 (this information is based on several Internet sources ( http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/calendar/calendar.html and http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/1921/schedule.htm , and comments in NSF):

January - KT-1 - Taiyuan - PS-2
February - CZ-4B - Taiyuan - Feng Yun-3A
March - CZ-3B - Xichang - Nigcomsat-1
April - CZ-3A - Xichang - Chang'e-1
May - CZ-4B - Taiyuan - CBERS-2B
May - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinsat-6B
May - CZ-3A - Xichang - Sinosat-3
June - CZ-2C/2 - Xichang - HJ-1A; HJ-1B
July - CZ-3A - Xichang - Beidou-2A
July - CZ-2D - Jiuquan - FSW-23
November - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinasat-9
2007(??) - CZ-3B - Xichang - RascomStarQAF-1
??? - CZ-2C/2 - Xichang - Jian Bing-5A
??? - ??? - ??? - Hai Yang-2A

Making a search on the net about Chinasat-8. It looks like the problems of granting a export license for this satellite were never resolved. I've found this http://www.spaceandtech.com/digest/sd2000-26/sd2000-26-003.shtml .

Well, some of this launches will be delayed to 2008 for sure...

According to Xinhua ( http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2006-11/13/content_5322002.htm ), China will launch two Beidou sats on the begining of 2007.

The chinese launch schedule for 2007 (this information is based on several Internet sources ( http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/calendar/calendar.html and http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/1921/schedule.htm ,comments in NSF):

January - KT-1 - Taiyuan - PS-2
January (?) - CZ-3A - Xichang - Beidou-2A
Begining of 2007 - CZ-3A - Xichang - Beidou-2B (?)
February - CZ-4B - Taiyuan - Feng Yun-3A
March - CZ-3B - Xichang - Nigcomsat-1
April - CZ-3A - Xichang - Chang'e-1
May - CZ-4B - Taiyuan - CBERS-2B
May - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinsat-6B
May - CZ-3A - Xichang - Sinosat-3
June - CZ-2C/2 - Xichang - HJ-1A; HJ-1B
July - CZ-2D - Jiuquan - FSW-23
November - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinasat-9
2007(??) - CZ-3B - Xichang - RascomStarQAF-1
??? - CZ-2C/2 - Xichang - Jian Bing-5A
??? - ??? - ??? - Hai Yang-2A

Looking again at the schedule on the Space Calendar, we can see that the launch of Chinasat-8 is schedule for October 2007. So, this must be other satellite but I will wait and try to check it before adding to this schedule.

I have found finally, what happened to the original Chinasat 8: It has been sold and will be launched as "ProtoStar 1" in 2008

http://www.protostarsat.com/protostar_11.htm

If there is really a Chinasat 8 in the chinese schedule, it must be another satellite.

Little bit of additional info from this artilce on Chang'e. Tests of the probe to be completed by February next year, launch somewhat later, probably April. Probe based on Dongfanghong III telecommunication satellite platform.

Space Calendar ( http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/calendar/calendar.html ) has some changes in the chinese launch schedule for 2007 (using a similar color system like the Russian launch schedule).

The chinese launch schedule for 2007:

January (?) - CZ-3A - Xichang - Beidou-2A
Begining of 2007 - CZ-3A - Xichang - Beidou-2B (?)

July - CZ-2D - Jiuquan - FSW-23
July - KT-1 (KT-2?) - Taiyuan - PS-2
July - CZ-4B - Taiyuan - Feng Yun-3A; SMS

October - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinasat-8
November - CZ-3B - Xichang - Chinasat-9
2007(??) - CZ-3B - Xichang - RascomStarQAF-1

(this information is based on several Internet sources ( http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/calendar/calendar.html and http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/1921/schedule.htm , comments in NSF).

It is interesting to note that the Space Calendar gives the solid rocket fuel designation as KT-2 (Kaithuoze-2) not KT-1.
