June 22, 2025This month we'll explore NASA’s Electrojet Zeeman Imaging Explorer (EZIE) mission. EZIE will be the first to study electric currents in Earth’s upper atmosphere known as auroral electrojets—powerful ribbons of energy that drive the northern and southern lights. Led by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), EZIE will use a trio of small satellites to characterize and record the electrojets’ structure over space and time to help scientists better understand space weather and its impact on satellites, power grids, and communication systems here on Earth. Hear from experts working on the mission and explore how NASA’s EZIE is unlocking the secrets of Earth’s electric skies! The event is hosted and co-produced by John “Das” Galloway, founder of the Kerbal Space Academy.
