From the evening DPC. CAPCOM reports Cygnus has "turned the corner" and is now inbound. Range is 441km in trail, 8 km below, and closing at 80km per rev.  Ingress is planned for Thursday.

Hey Bros
From the Article
"Kjell will maneuver the craft to the Earth-facing Common Berthing Mechanism (CBM) port of the Node-2 Harmony module...
Once Cygnus is fully berthed to Harmony"

I thought this was going to Node 1 "Unity" and would be first for commercial cargo?

For the US midwest/east coast folks out who may be unaware.  There is an early evening ISS/Cygnus pass tonight and a rare chance to see a visiting vehicle close to the ISS.  Times are Eastern.  From http://www.heavens-above.com

Thanks for that. From here it looks like they're going to fly directly through the constellation of Cygnus. Going to try to get a photo of that.

Edit: assuming it doesn't cloud up, which it looks like it may...

Edit2: uuuuuuuugggggghhhhhhhhh yes, it did.

Orbital ATK documentation had the wrong port. Correction edited.

No joy on Cygnus for me but there was a thin cloud deck over most of the sky.  I did see something fairly bright, moving fast south to north near zenith pass in front of the ISS that doesn't seem to have a good match on Heavens-above .  Not related to Cygnus but it was an interesting sight.

From morning DPC:

Cygnus  status: nominal/OK

Cygnus relative position: 31km behind, 4 km below. (First number was slightly garbled at the end; might have been thirty-somethingelse)

Kjell eager to get cygnus onboard today (as expected).

Offline InfraNut2

Hear on loop that Kjell is busy with final setup of robotics workstation for capture.

Enclosed centerline camera view that was shown on the ISS live stream a few minutes ago.

A bit later today we should have a swan in that view...

Are they at joint operations yet?

From Chris Gebhardt's article:
"Cygnus will slowly approach that Station to the Joint Targeting Reference Point (JTRP) – which it will arrive at just over three hours prior to capture."

Scott got out the binoculars and opened cupola shutters a few minutes ago.

Loop conversations picking up more now.

Offline InfraNut2

Go for starting prox link verification.

Sunrise!

Expecting tally-ho any minute now... Sadly I have not seen any rear-facing views yet, so no chance for Cygnus-spotting.

Regretfully I will have to leave for a Christmas luncheon now. Will miss seeing the capture live.

Will probably check in here a few times on the smartphone though.

Good luck Orbital and NASA! Go ISS and Cygnus!
