Quote
Apollo 13 Flight Director Loop (GET 53:00-58:00) Part 8

Part 8 begins with the crew in the LM preparing for and conducting a TV broadcast. Subsequent activities result in an explosion in the Service Module and rapid loss of O2 pressure resulting in eventual fuel cell shutdowns and the crew heading to the Lunar Module as a "lifeboat"

Audio is sourced from the Flight Directors communications loop in mission control (left channel) and the Capcom loop (right channel). Headphones are recommended.

Apollo 13 Flight Director Loop (GET 58:00-63:00) - Part 9

Quote
Apollo 13 Flight Director Loop (GET 58:00-63:00)
This video covers the post-accident portion of the mission, specifically with the crew powering up the LM Aquarius and performing the DPS burn to get them back on the free return trajectory. Glynn Lunney is the Flight Director.
A reconstruction as near to the timeline of the 1st press conference is seen (no audio) as well as network TV coverage reporting on the event as it unfolded some 4-5 hours after the accident- The accuracy of these events in the timeline can be ascertained with some accuracy because of the use of air to ground on the original audio of the coverage which coincides with what is heard on the loop.

The ground controllers continue to problem solve issues. Some of these include keeping the spacecraft cool, without using the usual PTC mode, discussing the merits of returning a day earlier than planned if the Service Module is discarded, the astronauts' sleep cycle and communication issues once the equipment is turned off to save power means that comm is very noisy.

Quote

Apollo 13 Flight Director Loop (68:00 - 73:00 GET) Part 11

During this period the astronauts take a series of pictures and continue to roll the spacecraft 90 degrees every hour to improve the overall temperature of the spacecraft. Because some of the usual voice downlink communication equipment is turned off to save power the comm is very noisy. There is a lot of discussion about the P+2 burn the crew will perform 2 hours after the spacecraft rounds the moon and is headed back to Earth. The crew can be heard discussing what is going on because the voice downlink is left in VOX mode, At the very beginning of this part of the audio Jim can be heard uttering his now famous line "I think this might be the last moon mission for a while"

The crew head away from the moon and prepare for the PC+2 burn using the LMs Descent Propulsion System to speed up their trajectory home. Talk is of consumables and the build up of CO2. The crew also initiate a Passive Thermal Roll to ensure even heating to the spacecraft and Haise stays up whilst his fellow crew mates get some much earned rest in the Command Module.
