It said that B1068 for Viasa-3 mission. Shouldn't they prepare first for USSF-52?

Seems SpaceX is slowly but surely moving out of California !!

Expanding outside, but no operations are moving out (i.e. not leaving Hawthorne). Falcon 9 manufacture will continue there for the forseeable future, as will Merlin manufacture. Raptor Vacuum manufacture will remain there as well as R&D, as the article mentions. There's also plenty of fab work for Starship itself and its GSE that occurs at Hawthorne and is shipped to Boca Chica.

Tesla's main design studio is also in Hawthorn.  Safe to say that facility isn't going to be emptied out anytime soon...

Actually they have just incorporated the old Triumph building into their campus. (old news, came to fruition this year) That is significant additional footprint for them in CA, most likely for Starlink.

Must be a very slow migration indeed!  About two-thirds of the open positions listed by SpaceX are located in California.

Production phase :

I think they prepared themself to the production phase, the orbital vehicule prototype phase will end the next year IMO so they need a big amount of raptors for the next years, if each booster took 33 raptors to work, SpaceX will need a lot of them in the first orbital flight tests as well for the ship who need 3 RC + 3 RVacs. It follow the need for SpX to have an other HB in Starbase.

Logistical aspects and environmental footprint :

This factory in McGregor follow an other issue, the logistical one, if you have to transport this amount of engine from Hawthrone in CA to McGregor in TX then to Starbase in the southern part of TX, this mean a lot of transport and amount of CO2 spend for this - that implied a bad environmental footprint for SpX - building a factory next to test stand is good for fixing some issue found during engine test.

The strategy is also based on taxe rate but I'm not sure if SpX is located in TX nowdays but this could be the case I don't know.

Space will be ours soon.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about progress on the Texas Raptor Factory?
