F9 Test Stand Contingencies

What happens if a F9 RUDs on the test stand taking it out for a period of time, does SpaceX have a contingency test stand to keep the ball rolling?


Lets assume for argument sake they were testing one of the recovered stages and the issue was caused by the landing not a design flaw so there was no hold on launches of unflown stages.

Looking at the video recently posting... the S1 test stand does not look that complicated...
So plan A is likely fix the stand quickly and move on...

Plan B is likely adapt a current launch pad and expect to repair on it some if firing for very long...

Plan C may be some S1's may only get a longish static fire before flight...

In summary... I'm sure they have an overall 'what if' plan already...  ;)

Just my opinion on topic...  :)

They still have the old tripod stand, where they used to test cores. So no, it would not be the end of the world.

Rumor has it the tripod is not upgraded to subcooled propellant, so it may not be a quick switch. Also if the RUD is big enough to take out the test stand, it means something is wrong with their engine health monitor and emergency shutdown procedure, so that would take some time to work out and would affect new stages too.

LC40 and soon LC39-A are also usable, but as mentioned, they'd want to find the root cause first. But there would be an inevitable stand-down, so the pads wouldn't be launching anything.

The tripod is getting weakened, and also not upgraded to the densified propellant and (I believe) new umbilical design.

There are also acoustic issues with it being above ground for the full thrust engines.  Tripod is retired.
