Land Purchases for the commercial site
« on: 01/05/2014 04:39 pm »
While it appears that Space X is leaning towards the Boca Chica site, and they have purchased land there, has the company purchased land at the other prospective sites? Having not might be a telling sign.

According to that new article the only remaining competitor woud be Georgia. They can lease a very large area there from the Camden County development authority.

If I remember correctly, Elon said the Texas launch site was close to definite, but they would consider multiple commercial sites.

Georgia would be better suited for serving a private space station than Boca Chica. But they could do that from Florida if they have 2 pads there.

Due to greater range of azimuths?

I think they can keep Brownsville busy just with GTO backlog...

Data: Camden, GA is 30 degrees north.  The Texas site is 26 degrees north.  Kennedy Complex 40 is at 28.5 degrees north.  Somebody else can provide the advantage...
Following the space program since before Apollo 8.

Wasn't flexibility part of the reason for a commercial port?
