China successfully launched the Communication Technology Test Satellite No. 16Xinhua News Agency, Wenchang, Hainan, March 30 (Li Guoli, Liu Jia) At 0:05 on March 30, China successfully launched the Communication Technology Test Satellite No. 16 at the Wenchang Space Launch Site using the Long March 7 modified carrier rocket. The satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit and the launch mission was a complete success. The Communication Technology Test Satellite No. 16 is mainly used to carry out multi-band, high-speed satellite communication technology verification. This mission is the 566th flight of the Long March series of carrier rockets.
The Long March 7-M carrier rocket was developed by the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The Communication Technology Test Satellite No. 16 was developed by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The satellite is mainly used to carry out multi-band, high-speed satellite communication technology verification. The Long March 7-M carrier rocket is a new generation of medium-sized carrier rocket in my country. Its geosynchronous transfer orbit carrying capacity can reach 7 tons, filling the gap in the 5.5-ton to 7-ton carrying capacity of my country's carrier rockets in high orbit. It can currently adapt to two fairing states with a diameter of 4.2 meters and 3.7 meters, and has the ability to launch one satellite with one rocket and two main satellites with one rocket. This mission uses the basic configuration of a 4.2-meter diameter fairing. At present, the Long March 7 modified carrier rocket has carried out 9 launch missions. Its technical status and management process have gradually become mature and stable. The launch site process has also been gradually compressed from the initial 35 days to 24 days, further improving the launch frequency and capability of high-orbit satellites. This is the first launch of the Long March 7 modified carrier rocket this year, and it will carry out multiple launch missions in the future.
