The preparation work for the launch of the Taihang Constellation Project (planned) of North China University and the verification satellite "North China University No. 1" has officially started

On December 7, the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of our university, Oriental Space Technology (Shandong) Co., Ltd., and Beijing Meiya Technology Co., Ltd. jointly held the first preparatory meeting for the launch of the North China University Global Shared Constellation Project and the "North China University No. 1" verification satellite in Beijing. This marks the official launch of the project and lays a solid foundation for our university to take a key step in the field of aerospace.

Li Jingyang, Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of our university, Wei Kai, Chief Operating Officer of Oriental Space, Wang Yonglong, Director of Beijing Meiya, and relevant personnel from the three parties attended the preparatory meeting. Among them, Wei Kai and Wang Yonglong are undergraduate and master graduates of our university in 2008 respectively. The cooperation between the three parties aims to integrate resources strategically, give full play to their respective advantages, and devote themselves to building the global shared constellation project of North China University of Science and Technology for North China University of Science and Technology.

According to the plan, the North China University of Science and Technology Global Shared Constellation Project will launch the first "North China University No. 1" verification satellite in the second half of 2025, and complete the networking of the global shared constellation through four stages. Among them, the first phase of the project plans to launch 6 satellites by the end of 2027, the second phase of the project plans to launch 18 satellites by the end of 2029, and the third phase of the project plans to launch 36 satellites by the end of 2031, and finally complete the launch of the remaining 68 satellites by the end of 2035. The project plans to introduce investors to jointly establish the North China University of Global Shared Constellation Commercial Operation Company to provide efficient and high-quality satellite services to the world. In the future, the project will be applied to agricultural monitoring, environmental protection, natural disaster monitoring, urban planning, resource exploration, meteorological observation and other aspects. Satellites can monitor the types and health of crops in farmland in real time, thereby improving agricultural production efficiency and food security; monitor environmental changes to provide a scientific basis for environmental protection and sustainable development; when natural disasters occur, they can quickly provide image data of the disaster area to help rescue teams make assessments and decisions; obtain high-definition images of the city for urban planning, land use surveys and infrastructure construction, etc., and can also monitor the safety of bridges and roads; used for the exploration of underground resources to improve the efficiency and accuracy of resource development; monitor meteorological changes, provide weather forecasts and climate change analysis, and help respond to meteorological disasters. These applications can not only improve the scientific and technological level in related fields, but also contribute to the sustainable development of society.

It is reported that many universities such as Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, and Xiamen University have launched their own verification satellites. The implementation of the global shared constellation project is not only a reflection of the school's scientific research and innovation capabilities, but also provides strong support for the school's "double first-class" construction and the development of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It is of great significance to enhance our school's academic influence and technological competitiveness in the field of aerospace, and at the same time inject new impetus into the development of my country's aerospace industry. In the future, the three parties will uphold the concept of innovative cooperation, jointly promote the implementation of the project, achieve the established goals with pragmatic and efficient actions, and make positive contributions to my country's aerospace industry and local economic and social development.
The Zhongbei Daxue-1 (中北大学一号) is plan to be launched By Yinli-1 in 2nd half 2025.

The North University of China team conducted a pre-delivery technical inspection of the "North University of China No. 1" satellite

On May 30, the reporter learned from North University of China that the "North University of China-Taihang Constellation" project team of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of North University of China recently went to Changsha, Hunan to conduct a pre-delivery technical inspection of the "North University of China No. 1" satellite. As the first intelligent satellite independently developed by universities in Shanxi Province, the satellite integrates multiple core technologies of national scientific research platforms, marking a major breakthrough in the field of aerospace engineering for Shanxi universities.

In the satellite assembly workshop, the project team and technical personnel jointly carried out the debugging of the main systems, focusing on the operation status of the onboard optical payload. This core component is based on the transformation of relevant technologies of North University of China, and has the ability to dynamically monitor mineral resources and intelligently warn of geological disasters. The AI processing system on the satellite adopts a platform and dynamic test algorithm linkage architecture, and has passed 28 extreme environment simulation tests.

Relevant person in charge of North China University said that as the first satellite of the "North China University-Taihang Constellation" plan, "North China University No. 1" has built a complete full-life cycle technology system, deeply integrated the advantages of North China University's instrument science and weapon engineering disciplines, and will set three aerospace records for Shanxi universities: the first independently developed intelligent satellite, the first teaching and research platform with a full process of "design-manufacturing-measurement and control", and the first dual-use military and civilian payload platform.

"The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of North China University will take the launch of this satellite as a starting point to promote the 128-satellite networking plan, support the school's "double first-class" discipline construction through aerospace technology innovation practice, help Shanxi's industrial transformation and upgrading, and serve the national aerospace strategic needs." Relevant person in charge of North China University said.
