Roscosmos PAO: "Gonets-M Prelaunch Processing Begins at Plesetsk".

Prelaunch processing of the Rockot launcher which is to loft Gonets-M spacecraft, commenced in Plesetsk.
Pneumatic tests of the upper stage, standalone testing of the onboard measurement system, electrical tests of the upper stage with the boosters have been already completed.
Currently, ground facilities at the launch pad are prepared for the upcoming launch. The upper stage and the fairing are to be delivered to the pad in the nearest future for integration with the boosters.
Gonets-M is intended to provide digital user terminal GLONASS positioning data, as well as electronic mail services, RIA Novosti informs.

Rockot Prelaunch Processing: Final Stages.

Rockot launcher undergoes processing for the lift off from Plesetsk with Gonets-M spacecraft aboard in early September.
The spacecraft is mated with the Breeze-KM upper stage. Fairing incapsulation will be the next stage, to be followed by integration with the booster unit at launch pad.
Gonets-M spacecraft maintain digital data transfer, GLONASS positioning data, as well as e-mail services, RIA Novosti informs.

How does the Gonets satellite fit in the Glonass system. They operate in different orbits and perform different functions. At least thats what I understood from Gunters page on Strela and Gonets?

How are these two projects intertwined?

These are either Strela-3 or Rodnik satellites.

So Gonets-M has no relation to GLONASS, despite all the Russian reports saying it is, and none of our Russian friends on here correcting it?

Changing the article, but that's absolutely unbelievable and very unprofessional of them when you can't even trust the Russian Space Agency's own site. Thanks Gunter!
