I wish soneone was transcribing what was being said...I'm curious what Guy Laliberte is saying...I've checked out his mission's website...he's quite a character.

I suspect this "spaceflight participant's" mission is going to be quite different than previous missions as Guy is the first "artsy" type of participant to fly...I've seen quite a number of Cirque De Soleil shows...they've all been very entertaining and very different from your typical circus...I imagine this will translate over to Guy's space flight...hiope he gets lots of TV time....

Thanks John44 for capturing this news conference....I just had a chance to replay it...lots of questions for Guy Laliberte....as I said earlier, his spaceflight participation mission stands a chance of being different than the others simply because of his life long involvment in the arts...we often get a very clinical view of space flight from the various astronaut/cosmonauts who sometimes struggle to tell us Earthlings what going into space is like...as an artist, Guy brings a fresh way of interpreting the space environment...he seems quite passionate about his opportunity...I'm looking forward to hearing his experiences....Should also be a hoot to see him show off his "busker" skills such as card tricks, to his fellow crew mates...

I have a question regarding ISS back-up crew assignments.
For Expedition 21, the back-up crew member for Jeff Williams is Shannon Walker.
If for any reason Williams could not fly and was replaced by Walker, would she become the ISS increment CDR as well?
Thank you.

In Soyuz TMA-16 a back-up crewmember for Jeffrey Williams is Shannon Walker, but on ISS a back-up crewmember for him is Aleksandr Skvortsov.

Actually, according to this www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2008/nov/HQ_08-306_Expedition_crews.html  NASA release, ISS crews donīt have backups anymore.

"Specific backup crew members will not be announced because the streamlined training flow for six-person crews. If needed, backups can be selected from subsequent crews in training."

I am sorry. I was misinformed. On ISS a back-up crewmember for Jeffrey Williams is Shannon Walker also.

Positions of Expedition 21 crewmembers (as per my source):

CDR - Frank De Winne (ISS-20/21 crewmember; Soyuz TMA-15 FE1)
FE1 - Maksim Suraev (ISS-21/22 crewmember; Soyuz TMA-16 CDR)
FE2 - Nicole Stott (ISS-21/22 crewmember; Soyuz TMA-16 FE2)
FE3 - Roman Romanenko (ISS-20/21 crewmember; Soyuz TMA-15 CDR)
FE4 - Robert Thirsk (ISS-20/21 crewmember; Soyuz TMA-15 FE2)
FE5 - Jeffrey Williams (ISS-21/22 crewmember; Soyuz TMA-16 FE1)

Can someone tell me how surname of Belgian astronaut writes correctly: De Winne or de Winne?
