I'm just glad that I got to watch the webcast while taking my morning shower, it was a one way broadcast, correct?

"Of course" ... ;D

Gentlemen, I fear I must accept responsibility for this delay. About a minute before launch it occurred to me that I had not made my usual comment in this thread and every time I failed to do so we have a scrub/abort/failure. A few seconds later...HOLD! I was trying to be logical about it and prove that my posting here had no bearing but obviously the gremlins out there are monitoring my thoughts when the tinfoil hat is on the rack. Have Elon send me a bill for the spoiled fuel. I'll try to be on my game before the next attempt.

That's better.  8)

LOL, but they could have used their famous split screen!

They did.  They were just scaled for viewer interest.  You can see the 2nd stage on pixel 1597, 977

I was really impressed at the close-ups we got on the returning booster stage - has anything like that ever been shown before? This has to be the closest view I've ever seen of the F9R booster in action. It started with seeing the booster separate after MECO1, and then we got to see its ACS squirting thrust to reorient the stage, then we saw the boostback burn. Finally when it was descending, we got to see the braking thrust burn -- all from the viewpoint from the ground! Amazing.

NO! This was an NRO launch. The broadcast was only 1 way until fairing separation.

That's most interesting.  I used a microscope to check pixel 1597, 977 and found that the 2nd stage had somehow changed from white to red green and blue. No kidding. I'm not making this up.

The promo video they put out after the first RTLS landing had some very similar camera angles but it was night time of course.

And yet, somehow he missed warming me about the tick crawling up my neck.... I must say, that camera in the microwave is not very good.

They could just use a speedboat with a winch on the back.
Hook on the the para-foil harness and bring it back like a para sailor.

Are we going to start naming fairings yet?

Edit to add: Since apparently no-one noticed, I'll advertise that I did add a name to fairing in the picture...

Plus, by then they'll need another pad set up for crew for the 12 flights around the moon each year.

So only when there is a full moon? ;D
Why would you want to go on a moon mission when it's only a crescent or worse a new moon when it's not even there!

We really have to if we are serious about becoming a sea fairing country.

Because of the shape, give them names of boats from popular culture (or just the shows' names if the name of the vessel is not known). The more comedic the better. For example Pea Green A and B referring to The Owl and the Pussycat.

Seriously, I think we may want to track them, although naming is a bit of a boatload of poppycock. :)

Hmm... what famous boats and ships can I recall?  Let's see... Minnow, Poseidon, Edmund Fitzgerald, Titanic, Lusitania, Andrea Doria, Bismarck,...  Okay, bad list.  Let's try something else.

Oh, I know.  How about ships from Star Trek?  Let's see, there was Essex, Constellation, Excalibur, Enterprise, Antares, Intrepid,... Enterprise?, Valiant,... Enterprise?!?  Oh, phooey.

Anyone have a good list of *surviving* boats and ships?  ;D
