I agree with him only to a point about the architecture change.

I think it's imperative we reduce costs now and not press ahead with something that has demonstrated ability time and time again to be very sensitive to cost and schedule growth.

About all this Mars talk: We want to replace an anaffordable lunar dream with an even more unaffordable (and much more challenging) Mars dream?! Why?

Steve Lindsey commented the first 9 flights are very high risk.  This might help sell Delta Heavy.  It should have flown about 10 times by the time it is needed to lift Orion.  Side mount might be consider "already flown".

Just glad he didn't try to put "flexibility" and Ares in the same sentence!

Lots of talk on radiation with Steve Lindsey.

A real solution to radiation loss of live over the rest of your life span is to fly older astronauts.  Lets see, I am now 53 years old...   ;)

If we need effective shielding for going out of LEO, we need lots of uplift to take the shielding with us.

Lindsey:  Biggest ISS Challenges "Cargo upmass and downmass"

The old logistics problem. Why does it need a commision to realize this, after half a decade?

Lindsey:  ISS usefullness to exploration "try to run ISS autonomously insteda of from the ground" use that to learn for beyond LEO missions.. start by "building in 20 minute delay for ISS communications" and try to function.

Augustine:  "Most of Science community does not see Science benefits from ISS"

Well, not much (US) ISS science has been funded, e.g. the planned science has been canceled years ago.

Anyway, I wonder about the value of beyond LEO HSF science. Likely not much more when all is said and done (and canceled).
