Discussion thread for the Starlink group 4-11 launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

NSF Threads for Starlink Group 4-11: Discussion

Launch is February 25, 2022 at 17:12 UTC (9:12 am PST) on Falcon 9 1063.4 from SLC-4E. Booster landing anticipated on Of Course I Still Love You. Fairing recovery is expected from the water.

Payload: A batch of 50 Starlink satellites. Expected deployment orbit of approximately 306 x 316 km at 53.2 degrees inclination.

Please use the Starlink Discussion Thread for all general discussion on Starlink.

Check the Starlink Index Thread for links to more Starlink information.

L2 SpaceX:
https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?board=60.0

From a previous mission's Press Kit:
Quote
Each Starlink satellite weights approximately 260 kg and features a compact, flat-panel design that minimizes volume, allowing for a dense launch stack to take full advantage of Falcon 9’s launch capabilities. With four powerful phased array and two parabolic antennas on each satellite ... At end of their life cycle, the satellites will utilize their on-board propulsion system to deorbit over the course of a few months. In the unlikely event their propulsion system becomes inoperable, the satellites will burn up in Earth’s atmosphere within 1-5 years, significantly less than the hundreds or thousands of years required at higher altitudes. Further, Starlink components are designed for full demisability.

Starlink is targeting service to near global coverage of the populated world by 2021. Additional information on the system can be found at starlink.com.

Are there any outward signs yet of a launch campaign?

I also heard nothing of a January mission from Vandy, we will probably have the launch of this mission in February along with NROL-87, though never say never.

I publish information in Spanish about space and rockets.

It's probably based on Next Spaceflight listing this launch as NET January: https://nextspaceflight.com/launches/details/6800

Also, NROL-87 is listed in February, no date.

Apparently, plenty of room for a Vandenberg Starlink launch beforehand, if SpaceX desires.

There's no FCC permit for a Starlink mission on January from Vandy, at least that I remember. Not sure where the room is for that...

One other item that I edited into a previous post; cross-posted here:
In addition, given the two first stages currently in use at Vandenberg, 1051.12 and 1063.4, I suspect that 1063.4 will be used for the NRO launch; as the NRO is an "external" customer, and 1051 will be the first booster used for the twelfth time.

[Could be 1071.1 instead.]

I therefore suspect 1051.12 will be used for the next Vandenberg Starlink launch (if it's in the near future).

This could be a launching manifest for Vandenberg (based on my personal knowledge and opinion):

B1071 | NROL-87
B1063 | SARah 1 & Rideshares
B1051 | Various Starlink missions

I'm leaning more towards 2-2, I'd say 4-2 for Florida, but I may be wrong.

2-2 would imply 70° inclination.

This one is to 53.2° (just like 4-4, which also launched from California).

Note that the name of the mission on the notice has a typo, this is Starlink 4-11 not 4-1 (obvious because we've already seen the launch of 4-1 but noting it just in case)
