No pictures of Khayyam seem to have been released following the launch, lending support to the idea that it uses a new reconnaissance satellite platform built by VNIIEM. The Iranian news agency IRNA did publish an infographic purportedly showing a drawing of the satellite, but that appears to be no more than an artistic phantasy (see attachment 1). The only real drawing of the satellite is the one seen in a presentation of NPK Barl last year (see the first posts in this thread).

Meanwhile, someone on the NK forum has posted Google Earth images of what is believed to be the Iranian mission control center and/or data processing center for Khayyam, located not far from the city of Karaj (coordinates 35.766787, 50.785668).  It was built by NPK Barl in the past two years (nothing was seen yet in this area in imagery from early 2020).

And for what it's worth, the Iranian space agency has denied a report in the Washington Post that Khayyam will initially be used by Russia to provide reconnaissance imagery of Ukraine. It said the satellite will be controlled by Iran "from day one" and that no third country is able to access the information sent by the satellite due to its "encrypted algorithm".

This does look very much like the drawing that the Russians released in 2021. Any source for this? Thanks.

Thanks very much. TLEs seem consistent with reentry in this area around 0803 UTC Aug 9.

The pictures of Khayyam in Replies 85 and 88 seem to come from tweets of Israeli researcher Tal Inbar:
https://mobile.twitter.com/inbarspace

The picture of the model of Khayyam in Reply 88 was made during a press conference given by the head of the Iranian space agency Hassan Salarieh on August 10. Here is video of the press conference:
https://www.ruptly.tv/en/videos/20220810-026-Iran-Space-Agency-denies-espionage-in-Ukraine-war-allegations-after-successfully-launching-new-satellite

Meanwhile, the Military Studies and Analysis Institute (MSAI), described as "an Iranian think tank focusing on military and defense studies with strategic and doctrinal approach", has released an interesting infographic on Twitter, which among other things focuses on the military uses of Khayyam.
https://mobile.twitter.com/m_s_a_institute

I understand this is an independent research institute, so the information should not be considered official.

So far all the pictures of Khayyam have come from Iranian sources. The Russians themselves have not published any, suggesting the satellite uses a platform built by VNIIEM for a Russian military satellite, possibly Razbeg. Iranian sources have said that three more Khayyam satellites have been ordered. One day after witnessing the launch at Baikonur, Roscosmos director Yuri Borisov paid a visit to VNIIEM in Moscow, ordering the company to begin serial production of satellites.
