Buzz Aldrin's 92nd birthday

Today, January 20th is Buzz Aldrin's 92nd birthday.  Happy birthday to one who inspired me so many years ago.

Here's to hoping he and all the other Apollo astronauts live to see Artemis succeed.

Whatever the (little) flaws in his caracter, he is a personal hero for what he did - including punching that SOB moon hoaxer in the face.  ;D

Aldrin is one of just four living Apollo astronauts to have walked on the Moon, and Frank Borman is one of just two living Apollo astronaut to have been born in the 1920s. Maybe Aldrin, Borman, and Lovell will live to see the launch of the Artemis 1.

You forgot Lovell, days younger than Borman.

You forgot Jim McDivitt. True, he hasn't got a Moon flight under his belt but still a decent career and an Apollo flight.

My work place sees world famous people coming through on a daily basis. Buzz is the only one I ever asked a handshake from:

Many years ago (late 80s iirc) he was guest of honour at a BIS (I think) event in Hastings. He was asked how he felt when he landed on the moon. He gave the, to my mind wonderful, reply "glad that I had someone else with me".
