Helodriver, while I know others helped and donated prizes, I just want to say thank you for coming up with a great way to celebrate the barge-landing program.  Brilliant idea!

This was fun, there was excitement, anticipation, uncertainty, drama, everything you could wish for (except a successful landing).  I'm really glad it's going to happen again.  I do believe that the winner is going to be one of the early voters.

Congratulations to the winners, hopefully next attempt SpaceX can reduce the delay in a winner being named.

In the words of the infamous Maxwell Smart, 'Missed it by that...', actually I missed it by a fair bit.  Bring on CRS-7!

How about for next time, we draw a dartboard on the deck?  Bingo is so old ladies.  Darts is more appropriate, except for the fact that they are flying backwards.

Agreed, I am of course biased toward voting systems that are easy to parse, but that works for more than thread scrapers. People can rally to something that hits the sweet spot in terms of easy to understand, translates to an interesting physical reality, and is just unfair enough to make it interesting. I think Helodriver nailed it the first time.

And there aren't enough zones on a dart board..    But the graphics would look hella cool...

Thank you. :) I drew a line from my square across to E28 and it goes right across the dampened center square. :(

Congratulations!

Maybe for the next round allow a special, no prize, choice where any number of people can choose dead center.

Already looking forward to CRS-7 bingo.  Will help make the long wait a little easier.
I feel the same way. Just a couple years ago 2 months between launches would have been wonderful, now it is a long time  :)

This has to be my favorite thread (besides L2 info).  It has been great fun to check in every day for the winner.

I still think that we should encourage SpaceX to paint our grid and designator codes on the ASDS deck to help with the future contests results.  Maybe just hash marks around the edges. Worth an  ask, right? ::)

The timing of the choices can be difficult, kind of like getting concert tickets online. If you happen to be lucky that you see the next pick thread in the first couple hours, you get the best spots.

I think it might be worth letting multple people pick a square and just award a prize to the first pick in that square.

First Prize goes to the square located at the center of the blast damage and touchdown point of the center engine which is "northwest" of the center of the X. That square is E-28 picked by NSF user tinorex on January 14th at 6:52PM.

One square away.  ONE SQUARE AWAY! :P

I'll try again next time.  Congratulations to the winners!
