New FTP Video section
« on: 08/21/2005 12:52 am »
Over the coming few days I will be uploading a number of videos we've had done and collected over the years, relevant to the Shuttle and space flight.

They will be special links from our forum to our FTP site (still on NASA Space Flight) - meaning super fast downloads.

PLEASE NOTE: This will be a MEMBERS only area of the site...so if you are a guest reading this, sign up (takes 30 seconds and it's free) or you won't be able to see that part of the forum.

I will post again when it's up, but you won't be anything but happy bunnies when you get on it! :)

We'll open this Monday afternoon - it'll be self explanatory and will be built up daily.

On line. You will be able to see the thread at the bottom of the forum (not sure if I'll keep it at the bottom), but you'll only be able to enter it if you have a username.

Will be adding stuff all the time.

We've just acquired around 600 videos through an agreement for the video section - so if you have any requests (even if they seem silly) just post them here. This includes Apollo stuff.

Anything you have of skylab?

At least six videos. I'll get them on this week under a SkyLab thread on the video section.

Hey, am I seeing this right, SkyLab 2 Launch video has a Saturn1B? It's like a chopped down Saturn V on a milkstool launch stand! :)

I've spotted this right away: All videos - if you have any launch designations, that may help too - as I'm getting these from several databases we've been granted to use.

1) A brief tour of Skylab

2) Skylab 2 launch & flyaround inspection

3) EVA, Pete Conrad running laps, & undocking from Skylab

4) Soyuz & Apollo launches & rendezvous

5) A handshake in orbit

6) Phone call from President Ford to Skylab

7) Message from Leonid Breznev to Skylab

I think so, the milkstool looks weird doesn't it :)

Any inside shots would be great.

You're in luck. Have a cool video not much unlike the tour of Mir video I put on tonight. :) They'll be put on this week (maybe tomorrow if I get time). About 22mbs of video in total.

Ok, so I'm too young for all this moon rocket stuff and I want to see loads more Shuttle stuff, but I do like the launches of those moon rocket types (dunno what they are called). Got any more of those launches?

They are called Saturn V (or 5) rockets - I have many

I mean, we've got 9 video (as in threads) up, but we'll have several hundred up over time at least. I'll try and add about 3 a day.

Howdy,

Nice job with the videos! A suggestion: when the ftp start to tax too much bandwith do consider putting the video-content on a BitTorrent server. And if it's permissible, put a collection of videos to some public torrent site, like torrentspy.com. Having it there might get another geek or two interested in space stuff.

Wouldn't it be like doing all the hard work and then throwing them out there to no benifit of the site?
